Biden’s ‘Lincoln Riley’ gaffe had sports world in a panic, Pat McAfee reveals: ‘Wait, he was just on the show’

Sports analyst Pat McAfee was floored.

He had just heard President Biden announce to the world — during the State of the Union address, no less — that one of the nation’s top NFL coaches was murdered by an illegal migrant.

“I saw somebody with a microphone last night addressing the entire nation,” McAfee said on Friday’s episode of The Pat McAfee Show. “He made an announcement that Lincoln Riley was dead.”

“I get on my phone after this event that we’re at and it’s Lincoln Riley and he’s trending all over,” the host said. “I click – ‘he’s dead.’ Lincoln Riley’s dead? Wait a second, who said that? The president? Lincoln Riley’s dead? How is this happening?”

“I saw his name trending [so] I’m like, ‘Wait, he was just on the show,'” he continued. “I was like, ‘What did Lincoln Riley do?'”

But of course, the coach of the University of Southern California’s iconic Trojans wasn’t dead.

President Biden on Thursday meant to say the name of Laken Riley, who was brutally murdered allegedly by an illegal Venezuelan migrant.

Despite the fact that he was holding up a pin with the nursing student’s name on it — one thrust upon him by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), who demanded he “say her name” — President Biden managed to mangle his admission.

“Lincoln,” Biden shouted back to Greene as the Congressional crowd booed her outburst. “Lincoln Riley, an innocent young woman who was killed by an illegal.”

Laken’s grieving mother, Allyson Phillips, was mortified.

“Biden does not even KNOW my child’s name – it’s pathetic!” she fumed on Facebook. “If you are going to say her name (even when forced to do so) at least say the right name!”

On X, news of the coach’s demise was trending.

“[Today I learned]  that[t] Lincoln Riley was killed by an illegal immigrant,” one user wrote. “RIP, USC football coach.”

“Lincoln Riley when he wakes up tomorrow to find out that he’s been killed by illegals,” said another, offering up a photo of the “fallen” coach.

“So who do you think they will get to be the new coach at USC?” asked a third.

“The first thing I saw [on X] was ‘Lincoln Riley is dead,’ and I’m — like I have a moment of, like, ‘What? What?” McAfee said. “And then I scroll a little bit further.”

While X may have been having some fun with Biden’s blunder, Rep. Greene was disgusted.

“President Biden finally recognized Laken Riley was murdered by an illegal that HE let in our country,” she wrote on X, “but couldn’t even say her name correctly.”
