Urban talk radio host Charlamagne tha God seemed to suggest that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis should bear some of the blame for the murder of three black people at a Dollar General store in Jacksonville over the weekend.
The host was discussing the tragic incident with co-hosts Tezlyn Figaro and DJ Envy on Monday’s edition of the nationally syndicated show “The Breakfast Club” when he claimed that the Republican presidential candidate has “fueled a lot of anti-blackness” in the Sunshine State, leading up to the tragic “racially motivated” shootings.

Figaro brought up the rude reception that the governor received at a vigil for the victims and also ripped another GOP hopeful, biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, who likened racist remarks by “Squad” member Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) to something that the grand wizard of the KKK would say while also pointing out that the purported menace of “white supremacy” is a figment of the left’s imagination.
“Vivek Ramaswamy was also under fire this weekend for comparing a white supremacist to finding a unicorn,” she said, referring to remarks that the candidate made at a town hall meeting on Friday. “He basically said ‘If I find a white supremacist it’s the same as finding a unicorn.’”
“What is there to say that we haven’t said before?” said the host. “Like, what conversation are we going to have that we haven’t had before? You know, even with somebody like, Vivek it’s like, why am I going to go back and forth debating with somebody about whether or not white supremacy exists when we have another example.”
Charlamagne, whose real name is Lenard Larry McKelvey later invoked the big lie about Florida’s black history teaching standards.
“The crazy part is Florida is a place where an act of white supremacy, you know, happened that you can’t even discuss with kids in classrooms …how these situations come to be historically. You know, you can’t even talk about how we got here,” he said.
“When Governor DeSantis was there talking, the crowd was heckling him, Charlamagne, just for that reason, you know, for what he’s doing to history,” said Figaro about the governor’s reception from some attendees at the vigil for the Dollar General victims.
“Your policies caused this!” shouted an individual at the vigil where the governor was used as a punching bag by people in the crowd.

“He was cut off, and said ‘Let’s not do this at this time.’ And I think he should have got all the smoke while he was there face to face to really deal with that, to make that connection like you just made Charlamagne that all of this plays a role into what it is that those folks are dealing with,” she added.
“I hate using woke terms like anti-anything. But yeah, Ron DeSantis has absolutely fueled a lot of anti-blackness in Florida. So, yeah, he deserves a lot of that smoke,” Charlamagne tha God claimed.
