Fired CNN boss Chris Licht apparently didn’t spend a whole lot of time licking his wounds after being unceremoniously dumped on Wednesday — a CNN insider told Fox News Digital that Licht “got cancel cultured because he wanted to level the ideological playing field.”
An unflattering profile in The Atlantic seemed to seal Licht’s fate after just one year at the helm. He took over from Jeff Zucker and was attempting to steer the ratings-challenged leftist network back toward the center of the political spectrum. Until Wednesday.
But Licht has apparently taken the blow well, as Page Six reported one day after his ouster that he “was living [it] up at the clubby Midtown haunt the Polo Bar with his similarly ejected former chief of staff, Devan Cayea, and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.”

Turns out, there’s a lot of chatter coming from the halls of CNN, with another insider sharing their thoughts on the outing with Page Six.
“It’s gross. He lit a network on fire for a year, left it in ruins, didn’t bother to send a goodbye note to the staff, and instead of saying he’s going to take a moment of reflection, he goes and hangs out at a sceney restaurant, all in an effort to make it look like he’s fine,” the staffer said.
“He’s learned nothing,” the person added.
On that note, Megyn Kelly attributed Licht’s fall to an oversized ego.
“The problem was one of ego, style. Licht inspired, as far as I can tell, no one,” she said on her popular podcast. “He was not adept at building relationships at all. He seems to be a man with a fragile ego who obsesses over press coverage not of the news but of himself. He came in with a lot of swagger on the heels of a beloved leader being quickly ousted — yes, Jeff Zucker was beloved.”
True or not, with powerful friends like Nancy Pelosi, there’s no need to cry for Licht. As one social media user observes, “It’s a big club and we’re not in it!”
Here is a sampling of responses to the story — beginning with that take — as seen on Twitter:
