Chuck and Mitch turn up the heat on Speaker Johnson over Zelenskyy’s money

The DC uni-party is singularly focused on one critical task, it seems, and it’s not protecting Americans from a growing number of heinous crimes being committed by illegal immigrants allowed to waltz into America under President Joe Biden’s leadership.

During a private Oval Office meeting Tuesday with President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) shared a common goal, which was turning up the heat on House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) to move on the Senate’s $95 billion foreign aid bill that earmarks a whopping $60 billion to Ukraine.

As reported by Politico, Johnson “was on an island when it came to Ukraine, compared to Biden and his fellow three top leaders.”

“What I hope is that the House will take up the Senate bill and let the House work its way. If they change it and send it back here, we have further delays,” McConnell said on Tuesday afternoon, according to the outlet. “We don’t want the Russians to win in Ukraine. So, we have a time problem here. And I think the best way to move quickly and get the bill to the president would be for the House to take up the Senate bill and pass it.”

Of course, McConnell knows that Democrats are pretty much all in on the foreign aid bill and only a handful of Republicans will be needed to ensure passage, while the rest of the GOP caucus can vote no for the sake of appearance. In other words, business as usual by weak-kneed, self-serving politicians who are putting personal agendas ahead of what’s best for the American people.

Schumer spoke after the meeting about pressuring Johnson to “get it done.”

“I told him, this is one of the moments.. history is looking over your shoulder and if you don’t do the right thing, whatever the immediate politics are, you will regret it,” the Democrat leader said.

The “right thing,” in Schumer’s mind, is to do nothing about actually securing the southern border with Mexico and ending a crisis that not only threatens to undermine America but is increasingly putting the lives of American citizens at risk as the world empties its jail cells in Joe Biden’s America. Instead, continue pouring billions into a war across the globe that Ukraine cannot win rather than lead in a negotiated end to hostilities.

But then, Schumer is a Democrat. Frail, 82-year-old McConnell is supposed to be a member of the opposing party.

The Federalist’s Mollie Hemingway summed it up best when she tweeted: “McConnell told Johnson to stop talking about the border and focus only on Ukraine funding. Horrific lack of leadership or concern for America in Senate GOP.”

At some point, it may be fair to ask when does America grow tired of feeble octogenarians who have been bleeding the political system for decades leading the way?
