JD Vance goes on the record in pivotal AZ race as Senate hangs in the balance

Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) has officially gone on the record in support of Arizona’s Kari Lake in her run for Senate.

With Democrats holding a slim 51-49 advantage in the Senate, including the three Independents that caucus with the party, the race in Arizona may play a pivotal role in the balance of the upper chamber of Congress — Cook Political Report rates the seat as a “toss up.”

“Kari Lake is a battle-tested warrior who will secure the border and advocate for policies that put the American people first,” Vance told the Daily Caller.

“Kari is running against a far-left Democrat who has been a rubber stamp for all of Joe Biden’s destructive policies that have gutted the middle class. I am proud to endorse Kari as the next U.S. Senator for Arizona,” he added.

If Lake prevails in the GOP primary, she will likely go up against U.S. Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ). The seat is currently held by Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, who left the Democratic Party to be an Independent — it’s not clear if she will run for another term.

The former Arizona gubernatorial candidate wasted little time touting Vance’s endorsement.

“I am humbled to have the endorsement of [Sen. Vance]. He has been a conservative hero in the Senate, standing up for America First values, and never backing down to the DC Swamp. I look forward to joining him in the Senate to get our country back on track,” Lake tweeted.

Other Republicans backing Lake include former President Donald Trump, Sens. John Barrasso (WY), Tommy Tuberville (AL), Roger Marshall (KS), Tom Cotton (AR), and U.S. Reps. Jim Banks (IN),  and Burgess Owens (UT).

Vance’s endorsement got plenty of support from social media users, with one person even suggesting that a 2028 Vance-Lake presidential ticket would be a winner.
