CNN anchor pulls rank in Trump showdown with Kevin O’Leary: ‘It’s the Laura Coates Live show, and I’m speaking!’

CNN anchor Laura Coates was determined to shut down Shark Tank host Kevin O’Leary’s effective dismantling of the civil fraud case brought against former President Donald Trump.

O’Leary appeared on the network Monday during a segment that focused on New York Attorney General Letitia James saying that she would ask a judge to seize the former president’s assets if he failed to pay a staggering $464 million judgment — Trump’s lawyers told a New York appeals court Monday their client can’t find an insurance company to underwrite his bond to cover the judgment against him.

“What a great message to send out all around the world,” O’Leary said of the case brought by James. “Take a claim where there was no monies lost– there was no fraud here in the context of actually people losing money. Deutsche Bank who made the loan was made whole. And let’s make a penalty of half a billion dollars against a crime apparently where no monies were lost.”

“Great message for New York. Great message for America,” he added. “A horrible message to everybody around the world watching this. Absolutely horrific.”

Just getting started, O’Leary continued, “And by the way, there is no such thing as a half-billion dollar bond. There are no half-billion-dollar bonds. Never been done before. Never.”

“This law has never been applied — forget about Trump, nothing to do with Trump. Everything to do about America and the New York brand. I love this state. My children live here. A horrible message to everybody around the world watching this absolutely horrific.”

That was when Coates had had enough and interrupted, “Well wait, Kevin. Kevin, hold on a second. Kevin.”

O’Leary tried to press on, but Coates was not to be denied.

“I have a wonderful voice and it won’t be talked over,” the CNN anchor declared. “Kevin O’Leary, I would like to hear what you have to say but – what are you doing?”

“It is the Laura Coates Live show and I am speaking!” she continued, determined to shut down O’Leary. “It’s Laura Coates Live, and hello, my name is Laura Coates.”
