Two homes purchased by New York Attorney General Letitia James have been a hotbed of police activity, according to a new report.
According to a piece by The New York Post, law enforcement has been dispatched to the two homes, which are currently at the center of a legal controversy for the AG.
“James’ serial crook grandniece, Nakia Thompson, 36, moved into one home with her three children soon after James closed on the house in August 2020, for which she paid $137,000,” the outlet reported. “Since then, cops have been summoned to the residence on 12 occasions, according to police records — including several instances in which they were called multiple times in a day.”
Some of the issues requiring police attention reportedly involved:
- Vandalism
- Issuing warrants
- Issuing subpoenas
- Suspicious persons
- Domestic incidents
“James’ purchase of two small houses in Norfolk — which she says were both for her family members — landed her in legal hot water,” The Post noted. “In October, she was indicted on federal bank fraud charges, which allege she misrepresented how she would use the property she bought in 2020 in order to obtain a more favorable loan interest rate.”
“The other house, which she bought in 2023, was the subject of a criminal referral on similar allegations,” the piece continues.
“At the home James bought in 2020, three of the calls were placed the year she bought it, one each in 2021, 2022 and 2023 — and six in the first two weeks of October this year,” the report adds. “The latter calls were made after the property came under national scrutiny when James was charged with bank fraud.”
Indeed, the paperwork James signed indicated that she would be residing in the home herself, despite working well over 300 miles from the property. Instead, the home is being occupied by what the article describes as “troubled relatives of the AG with extensive criminal histories.”
One of the occupants is identified in a separate article as 21-year-old OnlyFans model Cayla Thompson-Hairston, who was hit with felony charges in April 2024 for “allegedly lying about having a felony criminal record when she tried to buy a gun in Suffolk, Va., according to court documents.” The weapons charges were dropped at a later time.
Nakia Thompson, named above, is also facing misdemeanor charges of profane, threatening, or indecent language over public airways after going on a rant against Lindenwood Elementary School assistant principal Marie Hall.
“She allegedly hurled a series of insults and threats over the phone and then in-person on Oct. 9, according to a criminal complaint filed in Norfolk, VA. court on Thursday,” The Post reported.
If James is convicted of the bank fraud charges, she could face up to 60 years in federal prison.
