A crazy video out of Atlanta captured a pickup truck being rammed by a Georgia State Patrol trooper after the driver of the Ford F-150 mowed down a number of pedestrians.
Kevin Alves Da Saliva, 20, was doing donuts in the middle of a busy intersection early Sunday evening — street takeovers are a growing trend seen in places like Chicago and California, though it rarely happens in broad daylight.
When a state trooper arrived at the scene with lights on and siren blaring, Da Saliva attempted a hasty getaway. Paying no heed to the dozens of people in the street, he plowed right through the crowd and it was at that moment the trooper employed what is known as a pit maneuver to bring the truck to a halt. It would be an understatement to say the officer was determined to stop the vehicle, because after his first attempt to spin the truck out failed he made a second attempt and ended up ramming it with his cruiser.
After pinning the truck against a curb, the trooper scrambled across his own hood to pull Da Saliva out through the truck’s window.

Da Saliva, of Marietta, is facing felony charges of Fleeing and Eluding (Felony), Reckless Driving, Hit and Run, and Serious Injury by Motor Vehicle, Atlanta News First reported.
“You have people circling up the area where they’re doing donuts and they’re coming really close to them, so it’s obviously very dangerous not just for the person doing donuts but for the pedestrian and traffic and cars just trying to get to where they’re going that day,” Georgia Department of Public Safety Captain Michael Burns told the affiliate.
“We have to balance the need for getting people stopped versus the danger it’s posing to the public,” Burns added. “Somebody who’s going to do donuts at 7:30 on a Sunday in heavy traffic obviously doesn’t care about anyone else’s safety.”
