Crockett claims victory in long-standing feud, jabs MTG for cutting and running

U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) took a shot at Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene after the Georgia Republican announced her resignation from Congress.

Crockett mocked her GOP colleague for not being able to “take the heat” following criticism from President Donald Trump. Speaking with anchor Jake Tapper on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Crockett pointed to other Republicans who have been able to “weather the storm” after being in Trump’s crosshairs, while Greene has decided to call it quits.

“You know what? Honestly, I was like, you’ve got to be kidding me. You’re on the other side of the president for one week, and you can’t take the heat. Imagine what it is to sit in my shoes, to not only be on the opposite side of him, but to have people like her who are constantly fanning the flames of hate, and imagine what those threats look like when you literally are someone like me,” Crockett said in response to Greene’s announcement last week that she will be stepping down from offce in January.

Trump called out Greene as a “ranting lunatic” earlier this month after she began to criticize some of his decisions. Though a staunch defender of the president, Greene spoke out publicly about a vote to release the Epstein files and accused Trump of attacking her and lying about her. The president withdrew his endorsement of the Georgia congresswoman before she announced her resignation.

“Listen, he’s upset with [Rep.] Thomas Massie, and so he’s gone after him. He’s upset with [Rep. Lauren] Boebert, he’s upset with any Republican that actually signed the discharge petition,” Crockett told Tapper, pointing to House GOP members who were pushing to release the Epstein files.

“But somehow, they were able to weather the storm,” she added.

“This really speaks to the fact that Marjorie, who has been an instigator of a lot of this hate that we see as it relates to the MAGA movement. It’s just interesting that I don’t know if she really fully understood how bad she was making it for other people,” Crockett said. “And now that they’re doing it to her, I just got to say, well, why is it that everyone else is able to stand, and you can’t?”

Crockett and Greene have had a long-standing feud, with the Texas Democrat once declaring that Greene had a “bleach blonde, bad built, butch body.” Greene had blasted Crockett for having “fake eyelashes” during the House Oversight Committee meeting last year.
