Activist David Hogg was dragged on social media after posting what appeared to be some deep thinking remarks that turned out not to be his own.
The 21-yer-old survivor of the 2018 Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida tweeted a late-night analogy of an asteroid coming toward earth and ended it with the deep thought, “Truth has become a matter of opinion.”
“If there was an asteroid coming toward earth the greatest threat wouldn’t be if we could defend ourselves from it or not. In case the past 2 years haven’t made it clear- the greatest threat would being able to agree if it’s real or not,” the anti-gun activist wrote.

While his tweet inspired some supportive feedback, with many not-surprising attacks on former President Donald Trump, there were plenty of Twitter users who called out Hogg for lifting his deep thinking from another source.
So you finally watched Don’t Look Up?
— Stephe96 (@Stephe96) February 20, 2022
Did you just plagiarize Netflix in a tweet?
— Shannon (@shanana1982) February 20, 2022
@davidhogg111 just watched that Netflix movie. Now he’s gonna have nightmares about asteroids & wet the bed. He will blame us.

Maybe he thinks none of us have seen it?
— Eric Rohatinsky (@ERohatinsky) February 20, 2022
So ..there’s this Netflix movie …
— Andy Martens (@andy_hall23) February 20, 2022
You watched a Netflix movie. Bless your heart.
— Amygator 🐊 *not an actual alligator (@AmyA1A) February 20, 2022
Yes. Someone made a movie using this premise and you did not acknowledge it in this tweet. Is Hogg out of original ideas? Did he ever have any original ideas?

And other Twitter users presented Hogg with their own analogies.
No, idiot, the greatest problem would be trying to determine if we should destroy the global economy for the next decade to build bunkers that would save %.00000000001 of the population in the %.00000000001 chance it did hit us.
Analogy better.
And watch better Netflix.

Yeah? So how does it feel to be on the opposite side of truth, David?
— Leo (@Leo60606878) February 20, 2022
to continue this tortured analogy:
asteroid = Chinese bioweapons labhttps://t.co/SbESe0t9dn
