Dem Rep Ayanna Pressley pushes massive reparations reforms before midterms

U.S. Rep. Ayanna Pressley has unveiled a massive reparations campaign ahead of the midterms, and Republicans are loving every little bit of it.

On Thursday, Pressley held a press conference in Washington, D.C., alongside the Why We Can’t Wait Reparations Network to unveil the final piece of DEI legislation.

H.R. 40, as it’s called, would establish the Commission to Study and Develop Reparation Proposals for African-Americans. According to the totally separate National African-American Reparations Commission, the new commission would “examine slavery and discrimination in the colonies and the U.S. from 1619 to the present and recommend appropriate remedies.”

The bill has been in the works since before even the deadly Black Lives Matter riots of 2020:

It’s being pushed once more because of America’s upcoming 250th birthday.

“As we approach America’s 250th anniversary, the next 250 years cannot look like the last,” Pressley said in a statement. “The inequities we face today are not accidental. They are the direct result of this nation’s original systems designed to exclude, exploit, and harm communities of color.”

“That’s why I’m proud to join colleagues and advocates in calling on Congress to act and advance our reparative justice agenda. To meet this moment with the urgency it demands. And help build a future grounded not in denial, but in repair,” she added.

Other black Democrats, including Reps. Summer Lee, Al Green, and Watson Coleman issued similar statements, as did Dreisen Heath of the Why We Can’t Wait Reparations Network.

“This administration is actively dismantling the infrastructure of repair while the debt to Black America continues to accumulate,” Heath said. “Every other administration before this one refused to act on reparations.”

“Congress cannot call itself a body of justice and continue to defer H.R. 40 and our full reparative justice agenda. The next 250 years will be defined by what we do right now — and right now means passing reparations legislation without delay, without equivocation, and without excuse,” he added.

As noted in the tweet above, what’s also incoming are the midterms — midterms in which the Democrats are expected to trounce Republicans, even after a recent mighty redistricting battle.

“A leading nonpartisan political handicapper shifted three Senate races toward the Democrats Thursday and predicted that, with just under five months to go until the midterm elections, the Democrats have a ‘clearer path to winning the Senate majority,'” Fox News reported on Thursday.

This is why any advance Republicans can obtain is vital — which in turn might explain why Republicans are hopeful Pressley continues her antics.

“Hey could we possibly … get her to campaign for Democrats all over the country?” one GOP voter asked on social media. “Especially in swing states? Starting with Michigan?”

However, one voter broached a theory that Democrats purposefully promote this sort of garbage before elections to bamboozle black voters into voting for them once more.

“They bring this stuff up before elections because they know a certain number of blacks will buy into this and vote for them,” the voter wrote.

Others, meanwhile, lambasted Pressley as nothing more than a grifter.

“@RepPressley already makes more off taxpayers than 96% of the average income earner,” one wrote. “Freaking useless #grifter that has never suffered under slavery. How do we get the most incomplete people selected in DC?”

“@RepPressley Is a blithering idiot posing as a low life grifter, profiting from ignorance and greed,” another added.
