DeSantis autographs some unusual items; Rockstar Ronny D has a Trump-like ride ahead

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has an impressive resume, but it’s his everyday common man appeal that draws so many into his corner — and likely gives his political opposition so much angst.

A graduate of not one, but two Ivy League schools, perhaps the two most prestigious, DeSantis graduated from Yale in 2001, before attending Harvard Law School, graduating in 2005 with a Juris Doctor cum laude. He was also commissioned an officer in the U.S. Navy during his second year at Harvard and would serve as a JAG officer. DeSantis deployed to Iraq as an adviser to a U.S. Navy SEAL commander in support of the SEAL mission in Fallujah, Ramadi and the rest of Al Anbar province, as noted in his campaign biography. He would go on to receive the Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Service and the Iraq Campaign Medal.

But that’s not necessarily what the folks see — unless it’s that fighting spirit the popular Republican governor takes on when dealing with a compromised media serving a political agenda. Either way, for many he is a rock star, as seen in the video below. The caption reads, “ONE OF US! ONE OF US! ONE OF US!”

As seen in the video, the governor autographed a can of nicotine pouches for a supporter. What’s crystal clear in the footage is that DeSantis is no elitist, as he is thoroughly enjoying himself amid all the newfound attention just as any ordinary American would.

DeSantis is often compared to former President Donald Trump because of his demeanor with the media, and he has had plenty of practice with Florida journalists, who seem to take it upon themselves to expose him in some way or otherwise take him down — a failed endeavor, at that.

The difference being that DeSantis appears to be more careful about not giving the media the means by which they can destroy him. And thus far, he has outsmarted his antagonists, cleverly staying one step ahead of them.

What is clear is that the Republican rank and file are attracted to a fighter, after watching GOP leaders like Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell get outclassed by Democrats on a regular basis — though the Republican from Kentucky deserves credit for his judiciary record.
