Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has predicted that Palm Beach property values will skyrocket if Democrat socialist Zohran Mamdani wins the New York City mayoral race in November.
“If this socialist mayor candidate wins in New York City, you’re going to see real estate values skyrocket in Palm Beach because people are going to get out of that city,” he said shortly before Tuesday’s Democrat mayoral primary election that Mamdani ultimately won.
“As bad as De Blasio was, this guy is going to be way, way worse,” he added, referencing the city’s most leftist mayor in history.
“He doesn’t think that we should have law enforcement in dangerous parts of the city, that you should send in social workers,” he continued. “See how that works out for you, it ain’t going to work out well. So, they’ve made a lot of dumb decisions, and we’ve benefited from it.”

DeSantis also reportedly warned that if Mamdani wins, Florida will likely face a flood of aspiring police officers on account of his state’s current $5,000 sign-up bonus for cops.
“If this guy gets in, we may need to up our police recruitment bonuses… you’re going to see a flood of people,” he said. “When you have a candidate who wants to abolish the NYPD… that ain’t going to end well.”

“What do you think is going to happen if this guy becomes mayor?” DeSantis at one point asked, according to Florida Politics. “He wants to abolish NYPD, so you’re going to see a lot of people take advantage of that.”
“Some of these police officers say, ‘Why am I wearing this uniform and putting myself at risk when you have a mayor that doesn’t even believe our job should exist, doesn’t believe these people should be held accountable for the crimes?’ That’s a huge, huge problem,” he added.
Florida’s congressmen have also responded to Mamdani’s Democratic primary victory in New York City.
“Zohran Mamdani would do to New York City what Khomeini and Khamenei did to Tehran,” Rep. Randy Fine tweeted. “We cannot let radical Muslims turn America into a Shiite caliphate.”
Rep. Jimmy Patronis, meanwhile, issued a warning to New Yorkers now looking to relocate to Florida.
“Hey, New Yorkers! Welcome to conservative Florida, where we vote red, love our BBQ, and keep the gators free,” he tweeted.
“Don’t roll in with your Big Apple politics, trying to tax our sunshine or ban our sweet tea. Leave the New York politicking up north—down here, we settle debates with a fishing pole, not a soapbox!” he added.

Are any of these concerns valid? Yes, according to celebrity real estate broker Ryan Serhant. He told the New York Post that his phone has been ringing off the hook with wealthy New Yorkers interested in moving to Florida.
He’s not alone.
“The amount of lifelong New Yorkers texting me [about a move to Florida] is close to shocking,” real estate broker Nathan Zeder said.
“People are frightened, and over the next three to four months, we’re going to see a lot of people consider South Florida again — it’s going to be a COVID level of interest. These are people who can afford to move with relative ease,” he added.
The only hope for those wanting to remain in NYC is current Mayor Eric Adams, who’s running in the November mayoral race as an Independent.
Reports initially suggested former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who lost Tuesday’s primary vote, might run as an Independent as well, but this rumor has since been confirmed as false.
