‘Devout’ Catholic Pelosi: It ‘burns me up,’ church wants to ‘throw me out … I’m not going, I don’t want to make their day’

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) thought it was funny that the Catholic Church would like to throw her out as she claimed to be a “devout” member of the faith.

The pro-abortion Democrat defended herself and her views during a Women’s History Month event at the Lyndon Baines Johnson Presidential Library, speaking with the facility’s president and CEO Mark K. Updegrove about the significance of Roe v. Wade.

The topic, she said, “really gets me burned up.”

“I’m a devout Catholic, mother of five children in six years and one week,” Pelosi said, adding the extra dig at those who oppose abortion. “When you have five children in six years, then we will talk about it.”

“That was right for me, it’s not for me to say what’s for somebody else,” Pelosi said. “Nor is it right for you, nor is it right for the Supreme Court. This has been a precedent of the court that should be upheld by the court.”

The Democrat leader claimed the issue of abortion “isn’t about what is your religious belief.”

“This really gets me burned up, in case you didn’t notice, because, again, I’m very Catholic – devout, practicing, all of that,” she continued.

“They would like to throw me out, but I’m not going because I don’t want to make their day,” she added as the audience laughed.

Despite her own pro-abortion record while making claims of being a “devout” Catholic, Pelosi called out pro-life advocates as the ones who are hypocritical.

“They don’t believe in government protecting the environment, they don’t believe in the government protecting people’s voting rights, but they’re really big-time government in your bedroom,” she said. “Whether it’s a woman’s right to choose, LGBTQ, whatever it is. All of a sudden, there they are.”
