Escalation: Jeffries and Booker hold Capitol steps sit-in, invoke Civil War rhetoric

Two high-profile Democrats continued their party’s escalatory rhetoric during an otherwise silly stunt at the Capitol on Sunday, invoking the Civil War to suggest that Republicans are traitors.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) and Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) staged a sit-in on the Capitol steps which would have merely been another act in the pathetic clown show that the party has become since losing the election if not for their reckless quoting of General Ulysses Grant at a time when leftist mobs are increasingly turning to violence.

The New York City Democrat likened the current political climate in the United States to the Civil War-era and referred to a famous letter penned by the Union military leader who would go on to be elected as president, using his words to justify the party’s insurrection against duly elected President Donald J. Trump and the legitimate U.S. government.

“What Grant said is, ‘There are but two parties in America right now: patriots and traitors,’” Jeffries said to agreement from the small crowd, which included a handful of other Democrats.

“Whether you’re a Democrat or Republican, this is an American moment, and we need the American people to show up and stand up and speak up and partner with us,” he added.

According to Grant’s letter: “Whatever may have been my political opinions before, I have but one sentiment now. That is, we have a government, and laws, and a flag, and they must all be sustained. There are but two parties now, traitors and patriots, and I want hereafter to be ranked with the latter, and I trust, the stronger party.”

It was an inspirational moment, the type that could encourage a leftist fanatic to pick up a Molotov cocktail and firebomb a Tesla dealership out of the deranged belief that they’re involved in a historic struggle, an idea that Democrats have done much to promote.

The minority leader has often dabbled in incitement, with one example being when he called for people to fight “in the streets” against Trump shortly after he was inaugurated.

For Booker, an aspiring 2028 presidential candidate, sitting on his keister for half a day was a turnabout from his marathon rant in the Senate in which he babbled angrily against Trump, wrapping up after 25 hours earlier this month.

It was the perfect look for Democrats who have done zilch for the American people other than rouse the rabble and complain about Trump.

The sit-in also featured a cringeworthy sing-along.

Other than Jeffries’ seeming fantasy to reignite a new civil war, the sit-in was mocked by X users as another Democrat clown show.

The duo’s sit-in which was billed as a day of “faith, spirituality, and moral reflection” was covered by several legacy media outlets including CNN, CBS and NBC News despite it being sparsely attended and devoid of substance, a prime example of the manufactured “news” stories that have been a feature of the Democrat dog and pony show during the Trump era.
