Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) was eager to engage with U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) after the latter punked him for his latest fashion statement.
Gaetz took to X to comment on the possibility of impeaching President Joe Biden after Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) announced that an impeachment inquiry has been authorized, and he linked to a recent clip that serves as the latest reminder that Fetterman has no business being anywhere near the U.S. Senate — unless he’s there to empty the wastebaskets.
In the footage, a sloppily-dressed Fetterman reacts theatrically to being told that McCarthy has opened an impeachment inquiry against Biden while shuffling through the halls of Congress — he’s wearing a short-sleeved button-down shirt with a pair of gym shorts. Interestingly, Fetterman was seen participating in a Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works hearing the same day wearing the shirt. It’s not clear if he was still wearing the shorts or had at least put on a pair of pants.
“The evidence against Joe Biden is overwhelming. A first-year law student could win this case for impeachment before a fair jury,” Gaetz tweeted. “Unfortunately, the United States Senate isn’t a fair jury. It’s full of fashion icons like John Fetterman. While the Senate will be the platform, the American people will ultimately be the jury when we put that case before them.”
The GOP lawmaker underestimated the power of the pro-Biden media, but his tweet caught Fetterman’s attention.
“Government shutdown in t-minus 16 days,” the cognitively-challenged Democrat responded. “Instead of crying about how I dress, how about you get your sh-t together and do your job, bud?”

Apparently, Fetterman was playing hooky during civics class. Considering Gaetz is but one of 535 members of the House and is not in a leadership position, what does he expect the congressman to do? If anything, Gaetz would welcome a shutdown in exchange for dramatic cuts in spending.
Gaetz included a clip from an interview he did with Steve Bannon hitting Fetterman for his attire.
“First of all, that is the best-dressed we have ever seen John Fetterman,” he told Bannon jokingly. “His shirt had both buttons and the entire pant was not elastic. There were elastic features but it was not exclusively elastic.”
The Republican lawmaker also clapped back at Fetterman’s tweet.
“Glad to see you’re well enough to muster a tweet, Senator,” he wrote. “Here’s what I’ve been working on while you’ve been away: Term Limits Balanced Budgets Single-Subject Spending Bills Which of these are you against?”

Social media users were skeptical if Fetterman actually composed the tweet… here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story from X:
There is a zero percent chance that John Fetterman actually writes his own tweets.

The way you dress is disrespectful and today people like you are a joke to the USA!

I wonder how long it took Fetterman to even type that post?

I’m not a fan of Gaetz. But how about Fetterman dresses like a US Senator rather than a junior High PE teacher?

It’s hard to believe #Fetterman spoke so clearly and legibly.
