A former contestant on the popular game show “Family Feud” has been charged with murder in the home-invasion death of his estranged wife.
Timothy Bliefnick, 39, was arrested Monday morning and charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of a home invasion, KHQA reported.
The bullet-riddled body of Rebecca Bliefnick, 41, was found at her home on Feb. 23 after she failed to pick up their three kids from school, according to the ABC affiliate.
“This brutal crime has had the Quincy community on edge and our residents living in fear,” Quincy Police Chief Adam Yates said on the department’s official Facebook page. “I hope today’s announcement can begin to calm some of those concerns.”
The couple was reportedly married in 2009 but had been separated for several years according to court records. They were in the process of getting a divorce at the time of her death.
KHQA noted that several court documents were taken down from Illinois’ public records website after Rebecca Bliefnick’s death,
“The documents involved the couple and another family member in which orders of protection were filed. Rebecca Bliefnick, or a local domestic violence agency working on her behalf, had filed the first restraining order against Tim Bliefnick. She later had also filed one against her father-in-law,” the affiliate reported. “Sometime later, Tim Bliefnick filed one against his estranged wife.”
