Former VP gets rude welcome at NRA convention in his home state as boos ring out: ‘I love you too’

Boos rained down on former Vice President Mike Pence during his speech at the annual gathering of Second Amendment advocates at the National Rifle Association (NRA) convention, a bad omen for his potential 2024 White House run.

Pence took the stage at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis on Friday to an underwhelming response from the crowd which, except for the booing of some in the audience, showed little enthusiasm for the former Hoosier State governor.

After he was introduced by NRA chief Wayne LaPierre, boos rang out from across the room as Pence began speaking after he strode onto the stage as Kid Rock’s “Born Free” played over the sound system.

“Well hello NRA,” Pence said to loud booing to which the unrattled politician calmly replied, “I love you too.”

The rude reception that the ex-veep received from the NRA faithful on his own home turf shows that there are still hard feelings over the ugly falling out between Pence and former President Donald J. Trump over the 2020 election and the so-called “insurrection” on January 6, 2021.

Pence’s strong criticism of his former boss over the chaos at the Capitol on that fateful day has been cheered by Trump’s enemies who have latched on to the former vice president who they hope to deploy as a human torpedo against the 2024 GOP frontrunner in the ongoing investigation led by the Biden regime’s special counsel Jack Smith.

The ex-VP has decided not to fight a Washington, D.C. judge’s ruling requiring him to testify to a federal grand jury investigating Trump, a decision that is being appealed by the former president’s attorneys who are seeking to keep Pence off the stand or at the least, limit the scope of the questioning.

Following the rough start, Pence delivered a strong defense of individual rights while condemning the excesses of the ruthless political left’s cultural revolution and the disarmament of the population that will be necessary for the transformation of the nation into a “woke” totalitarian utopia.

“The answer to mass shootings is not fewer guns,” Pence said. “It’s more institutional mental health.”

“Ignoring the motivations of the trans activist who killed three children and three adults at that Christian school in Nashville, and the ‘mental health challenges’ of the man who killed five people and injured eight others in Louisville, President Biden and the Democrats have returned to the same tired arguments about gun control and confiscation,” the former vice president added, winning over the crowd after the initial booing.

Speaking after Pence, Trump took a shot at his former veep.

“I hope you gave Pence a good warm approval,” he said, as more booing broke out at the mention of Pence’s name.

Trump would also blast Democrats for trying to take guns out of the hands of law-abiding Americans at a time of rampant criminality.

Pence has yet to announce whether he will be joining the GOP field of candidates vying for a shot at ending the tyrannical reign of President Joe Biden.
