Genius liberal journos have a ‘simple solution’ to Disney’s woes: Just pick up and move out of Florida

In the wake of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s bold move to strip Disney of its self-governing status, liberal journalists have united to offer the embattled company a “simple solution”: Just move the multi-billion dollar mouse house somewhere else.

As previously reported in American Wire News, the culture war between Gov. DeSantis and Disney has heated up, with Florida’s Republican-led legislation voting Thursday to eliminate the Reedy Creek Improvement District — the official name of Walt Disney World’s “Magic Kingdom,” which for more than 50 years has operated in Florida with autonomy.

The move came in response to Disney’s relentless criticism of DeSantis’s parental rights legislation, which bans lessons on sexual orientation and gender theory in K-3 classrooms.

Ending Walt Disney World’s self-governing privileges has spawned more than a few liberal meltdowns on social media, with Dems accusing DeSantis of exacting political revenge on his opponents.

But Mickey need not fear, because progressive journalists — who must surely realize the complex encompasses 39 square miles, because, they’re journalists, right? — have a “simple solution.”

“The company should close the current @WaltDisneyWorld in Florida, tear it down, and build a new and better facility in a nearby state NOT run by religious zealot buffoons,” declared Keith Olbermann.

While Olbermann is often the first out of the gate with a radical point of view, his sentiments were shared by a host of liberal journalists.

And author Amy Siskind addressed Disney directly.

“Dear @Disney,” she tweeted. “Please consider relocating Disney World to a new state that isn’t actively crusading against LGBTQ people! I am sure other states would be more than thrilled to have your tourism dollars and employment opportunities.”

“Make an example out of DeathSantis!” Siskind urged, suggesting that New York would be a far better spot for Goofy and friends.

But as one user pointed out, “simple” is hardly a simple matter.

“You do realize that Walt Disney World is roughly twice [the] size of Manhattan, right?” the user replied.

“Please show me another San-Francisco-sized area of completely undeveloped land in a convenient location for both international and domestic travelers capable of housing 11,500-acres of nature reserve, 32 resorts, 4 parks, multiple man-made lakes, and an African savannah,” another responded.

Radio host Erick Erickson slammed the suggestion of moving Disney from those with “blue checkmarks.”

“All of you people saying Disney should just leave Florida are really, really stupid people and I note many of you have blue checkmarks,” Erickson tweeted. “We’re talking 25,000 acres, 39 square miles of development. They cannot leave Florida. That is the whole point. How are y’all that stupid?”

“They generate over $1 billion in revenue from the Florida parks alone,” Erickson added. “They won’t abandon that.”
