Georgia citizens declare state of emergency over state’s election integrity — and get results!

A group of local citizens and experts held a press conference on Tuesday to declare a state of emergency with Georgia’s state election system.

During the press conference, the participants “presented a wealth of evidence and expert testimony that exposed the flaws, vulnerabilities, and irregularities of the Georgia electronic voting system and the voter rolls that have plagued Georgia’s elections since 2020,” according to Georgians for Truth, an independent news site.

Equipped with this evidence, the participants argued that Georgia’s current election system can’t be trusted because of the state’s reliance on electronic voting machines and corrupted voter rolls:

As a solution, the participants recommended that the state governor and State Election Board declare a state of emergency and implement some much-needed reforms.

Reforms such as using emergency paper poll books and ballots for the upcoming 2024 election, as well as conducting a full hand count before certification of the final results.

During the press briefing, one speaker said that the state of Georgia owes former President Donald Trump an apology.

“Georgia owes President Donald J. Trump an apology,” the speaker said. “President Trump has been indicted by Fulton County.”

“May I remind you that Fulton County has been found to be in violation of election law not once for the hand audit, but twice for the machine count, and now we can prove that they had intentional human intervention, which is the predicate for election fraud,” he added.

The press conference reportedly led to one beautiful result: Georgia’s State Election Board passed a new rule giving “county election boards the authority to demand more information, including the ability to conduct inquiries, before certifying election results,” according to CNN.

The board “also passed – in a 3-1 vote along party lines – a motion to increase the number of poll watchers who are allowed to observe the tabulation process in Georgia’s 159 counties.”

Republican National Committee Chair Lara Trump was pleased by the development.

The board’s vote came days after former President Trump praised three board members — Rick Jeffares, Janice Johnston, and Janelle — during a campaign rally in Atlanta.

Leftists weren’t happy with the rule changes. Indeed, according to the Georgia Recorder, a leftist news site, a number of leftist groups had urged the board to vote against the rules, including Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, Fair Fight Action, the ACLU of Georgia, Common Cause Georgia, and the Public Rights Project.

Georgia NAACP president Gerald Griggs was particularly displeased, arguing in a statement that it’s unwise to make election rule changes during the middle of an election cycle.

“The focus should be on ensuring a smooth and transparent election where every eligible voter can participate without unexpected hurdles,” he said. “Stability and consistency in election rules are crucial to maintaining the integrity of our democratic process. True Election Integrity would be not allowing the ‘Big Lie’ to change election rules and procedures.”

The “big lie” is a pejorative used to describe efforts by Republicans to raise concerns about and challenge the results of the 2020 presidential election.

The leftist groups oppose the new Georgia rules because they say they’ll delay the voting certification process. Republicans of course say that delaying the process is worth it if it means greater election integrity.

The type of election integrity the conservatives in Georgia would like is the type seen in Virginia, where Gov. Glenn Youngkin recently ordered that the 2024 presidential election be conducted solely using paper ballots.

“The Virginia model for election security works. This isn’t a Democrat or Republican issue, it’s an American and Virginian issue,” Youngkin declared in an announcement according to Fox News. “Every legal vote deserves to be counted without being watered down by illegal votes or inaccurate machines. In Virginia, we don’t play games and our model for election security is working.”
