GoFundMe effort to help Trump pay $350M fine is raising some serious bank

A GoFundMe campaign set up to help Donald Trump pay the $350+ million fine leveled against him in the civil fraud trial brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James — who campaigned for office on going after the former president — is raising some serious bank.

Started by Elena Cardone, the wife of world-renowned entrepreneur Grant Cardone, who reportedly has a portfolio of assets worth over $4 billion, the crowdfunding call has collected more than $602,000 as of this writing.

Grant Cardone shared the campaign on X, writing: “Stand up for your country America! This is no longer political, Republican, or Democrat. It’s about freedom. If a judge can decide fraud on a citizen when there is NO FINANCIAL DAMAGE what can they do to you?”

Elean wrote in the campaign description: “The recent legal battles he faces are not just an attack on him, but an attack on the very ideals of fairness and due process that every American deserves. It’s a moment that calls into question the balance of justice and the application of law, disproportionately aimed at silencing a voice that has been at the forefront of advocating for American strength, prosperity, and security.”

“Now, more than ever, it’s time for business owners and entrepreneurs to unite, to show our collective strength and resolve,” Cardone added. “Let’s stand with Trump to ensure that justice prevails and that we continue to fight for a country that respects freedom, honors courage, and rewards the unwavering spirit of its people.”

The top contribution to the page was $10,000 from an anonymous donor.

Grant also noted in a separate tweet that his real estate investment firm will no longer “waste time in New York.” He included a photo of Judge Arthur Engoron, the smug jurist who handed down the steep penalty against Trump.

“CardoneCapital just started to research real estate investments in New York believing it was time to get into the market,” he wrote. “After the over reach by the judge in the Trump case & penalties imposed of $355M I told them team do NOT waste time in New York. We will 2X our efforts in: Florida Arizona Texas Tennessee.”

Social media users were perplexed over why the Cardones would choose GoFundMe as the platform to raise money, while others were certain that the campaign would eventually be shut down.

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
