Gov. Kristi Noem on Walz: ‘100% convinced he’s a national security risk’

Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD) sounded the alarm Sunday that Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate, Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN), is a “national security threat” to the United States.

Noem responded to Walz’s many connections to China in an appearance on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo, which was being guest-hosted by Sean Duffy, to say the Democrat she once served with in Congress has “completely changed” since becoming governor and wants America to be more like China — more communist, more totalitarian.

“I’m 100% convinced he’s a national security risk,” Noem said. “This man wants America to grow up and be more like China, which is the exact opposite of what our leaders should be doing. I have spent all of my time fighting China, and for 30 years I’ve been working in policy on protecting our food supply, and we’ve seen China not only manipulate our currency, steal our IP, treat us unfairly in trade agreements. They’ve also spied on us, they’ve come in and now they’re taking and buying our land.”

“I have banned them from purchasing land and doing state contracts in South Dakota,” she continued. “The rest of the country needs to realize and wake up that we do not want a leader like Tim Walz and Kamala Harris in the White House because of how they would undermine national security.”

Noem commented on Walz as a neighboring governor to say he is a “bully” who “pushed mandates down on his people.”

“In fact, we’ve seen a mass exodus of people out of Minnesota that have sought refuge in South Dakota,” the GOP governor explained. “And they come here to get away from what he’s done to their families, how he’s devastated their businesses by shutting them down, raising their taxes, increasing their costs so they can no longer provide for their families.”

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) cited the Democratic governor’s “draconian COVID policies” last month while pointing out that people fled the state for Florida — one such policy was a “snitch line,” as described by DeSantis, where people were encouraged to call the police and rat on neighbors not following COVID-19 protocols.

After detailing more Walz affiliations with China, which include more than 30 visits to the communist country, Noem was adamant that he could not be trusted to look out for the best interests of America.

“He truly is someone that wants to undermine the United States of America,” Noem insisted. “We cannot trust him by putting him in the White House.”
