Nancy Pelosi sparked backlash after a hateful attack on Christians, employing a fake accent to drive home her insult.
In an interview at the Harvard Kennedy School this week, the former House Speaker perplexed attendees when she seemed to roll out a faux Southern accent in a rant about people of faith.
“You’re people of faith!? You go to church on Sunday and pray in church on Sunday and prey on people the rest of the week!?” the 85-year-old California Democrat asked while speaking with journalist Alison King. “What is this?”

The audience seemed to respond with reserved laughter as Pelosi, who claims to be Catholic, called out what she saw as hypocrisy.
Pelosi should know a few things about hypocrisy, as her own stand in support of abortion rights flew in the face of her claim to be a “devout Catholic.” Back in 2022, Pelosi was banned by a San Francisco archbishop from receiving Holy Communion because of her abortion stance.
“You are not to present yourself for Holy Communion and, should you do so, you are not to be admitted to Holy Communion, until such time as you publicly repudiate your advocacy for the legitimacy of abortion and confess and receive absolution of this grave sin in the sacrament of Penance,” Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone told Pelosi in a public letter at the time.
“I received Communion anyway,” Pelosi told the National Catholic Reporter later that year. “That’s his problem, not mine.”
Her remarks at the Harvard event this week, coupled with her accent, unleashed a torrent of criticism on social media.
The Daily Mail reported that Pelosi’s communications director responded to the story by sending the link to the Wikipedia page for “Baltimore accent,” noting that the “former speaker is a native of Baltimore, Maryland.”
Many social media users on X found Pelosi’s attack on people of faith to be nothing short of “disgusting.”
It is disgusting and disheartening how so many of our elected representatives talk about their fellow Americans. The lack of decency, decorum and professionalism of our elected leaders, on both sides, is disturbing and a poor reflection of American culture. Good decent common…
