Jack Smith tapped Ted Cruz’s office phone, and guess which Obama judge signed off on it

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz ripped the Biden administration for the FBI’s Arctic Frost probe, slamming the federal judge who signed off on having his Senate office phone tapped.

The Texas Republican joined colleagues at a press conference on Wednesday as Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) released 197 subpoenas that Biden’s FBI used to target Republicans. Cruz called on the U.S. House of Representatives to impeach Judge James Boasberg, who was appointed in 2011 by President Barack Obama.

“Grassley has been releasing troves of documents related to Arctic Frost, a probe he says was politicized and lacked basis. [Former special counsel Jack] Smith used the probe to bring criminal charges against Trump related to the 2020 election,” Fox News noted.

“The subpoenas included nonpublic, confidential grand jury material that Grassley said he obtained through whistleblower disclosures,” the outlet reported.

“Biden’s DOJ never disclosed that they tapped my Senate office phone because Judge Boasberg signed an order that said I’d destroy evidence,” Cruz noted in a post on X. “That is utterly without basis in fact.”

“There is precisely zero evidence to conclude that I am likely to destroy or tamper with evidence or to intimidate potential witnesses,” Cruz said at Wednesday’s press conference, referring to the subpoenas that had been issued for eight Republican senators’ phone records.

“This order is an abuse of power, this order is a weaponized legal system,” Cruz said. “My assumption is Judge Boasberg printed these things out like the placemats at Denny’s.”

“If a judge signs an order reaching a factual conclusion for which there is zero evidence whatsoever, that judge is abusing his power,” the senator said. “There will be accountability for these zealots who wanted to corrupt the Department of Justice and corrupt the judiciary in order to try to attack their enemies list.”
