Two Democratic lawmakers who engaged in fraudulent activities are finally facing consequences for their poor actions.
One of them, Oklahoma state Rep. Ajay Pittman, resigned from office in disgrace on Wednesday after pleading guilty to three felonies.
“Pittman pleaded guilty on Wednesday, Jan. 28, to second-degree forgery, conspiracy to commit a felony and violating the state computer crimes act,” according to The Oklahoman.

The charges stemmed from her decision to submit a forged, fake $2,500 cashier’s check to the Oklahoma Ethics Commission in June.
Pittman had previously been investigated and settled with the commission after she was busted for improperly using campaign donations on personal expenses like dining and clothing.
As part of the settlement agreement, Pittman was supposed to repay some of the money back into her own campaign account to restore the money that she’d misused on personal expenses.
The key was that this money was supposed to come from her own personal bank account, not from additional campaign donations.
When the commission eventually asked Pittman for proof that she was actually making these repayments, she emailed them an image of a fake $2,500 cashier’s check that had been forged to give the impression that it was a real payment from her bank account to her campaign.
A new investigation soon uncovered the truth: She never made such a payment from her personal account. All investigators found was instead a $2,500 deposit into her campaign account from yet another donor.
“The investigation found the Jan. 27, 2025, deposit was actually a $2,500 donation from the Osage Nation,” The Oklahoman reported.
“Public officials hold a sacred trust with the people they serve,” Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond said after Pittman pleaded guilty on Wednesday. “When that trust is violated for personal gain, it strikes at the very heart of our institutions.”
“This office will continue to hold elected officials accountable when they abuse their positions and betray the public’s confidence. No one is above the law in Oklahoma,” he added.

The second Democrat who’s in trouble, Florida Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, is expected to face an expulsion vote next week over allegations of campaign finance violations.
On Thursday, the House Ethics Committee released a damning report saying that they had “substantial reason to believe” that Cherfilus-McCormick had violated the law and that they were “bringing charges” against her related to campaign finance laws and regulations.
“Cherfilus-McCormick was indicted in November by a grand jury,” according to The Hill. “She is accused of stealing $5 million in Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funds and using some of it to fund her campaign.”
Prosecutors alleged that she and her brother had received a $5 million FEMA overpayment in July of 2021, “while their health care company was working on a FEMA-funded staffing contract tied to COVID-19 vaccinations.”
But instead of returning the money, Cherfilus-McCormick and her brother decided to steal it by routing it “through multiple accounts” to disguise their source.
The Democrat congresswoman has, of course, denied that she’s guilty and also tried to blame the allegations against her on racism:

She was caught stealing $5 million in FEMA money.. 👀

“Today’s action was taken without giving me a fair opportunity to rebut or defend myself due to the constraints of an ongoing legal process,” she said on Wednesday.
“I reject these allegations and remain confident the full facts will make clear I did nothing wrong. Until then, my focus remains where it belongs: delivering for my constituents and continuing the work they sent me to Washington to do,” she added.
Florida Congressman Greg Steube announced on Thursday that he’s filed a resolution to expel Cherfilus-McCormick from Congress.
In November, I filed a resolution to expel @CongresswomanSC following her indictment by the DOJ.
Today’s House Ethics findings detail more than two dozen counts of serious financial crimes.
When we return to Washington, I’ll call up a resolution to expel her from Congress.… https://t.co/s1NSvqxxpx
