Following in the questionable footsteps of House Leader Nancy Pelosi, first lady Jill Biden will head through the revolving door of high-profile photo ops that have become eastern Europe later this week in what is being called a “solo diplomatic mission for the White House.”
“First Lady Jill Biden is the new face of U.S. diplomacy,” Breitbart reported, noting that this is FLOTUS’s second overseas trip as a representative of the United States in under a year.
Biden will spend Mother’s Day venturing to the Slovakian city of Kosice and the village of VyÅ¡né Nemecké to meet with Ukrainian refugees and those who are supporting them, according to an AFP report.
“On Mother’s Day, she will meet with Ukrainian mothers and children who have been forced to flee their home country because of Putin’s war,” Biden’s office confirmed.
The first lady will drop in for a visit with U.S. service members at an American military installation, the Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base, near the Black Sea, Axios reports.
She will then head to the nation’s capital of Bucharest, where she will meet with government officials, US embassy staff, and “educators who are helping teach displaced Ukrainian children and incorporate them into a stable and safe school environment,” according to a statement from Biden’s office.
The First Lady will then meet with American diplomats in Bratislava, Slovakia, before her Sunday trip to Kosice and Vyšné Nemecké.
Finally, Biden will meet with Slovakian government members on Monday before heading back to the United States.
Pelosi, top Dems’ surprise trip to Kyiv to meet with Zelenskyy raises eyebrows after photo op https://t.co/b99mmwLYXT

Since the start of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, a string of VIPs have made their way to the region, including former Vice President Mike Pence, who, with his wife, Karen, dipped into Ukraine alongside Samaritan’s Purse in March and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who in early April, took a stroll around Kyiv with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Not to be outdone, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi made her own surprise visit to Kyiv on the 1st of May in a photo op with Zelenskyy that, as American Wire reported, raised more than a few eyebrows.
Accompanied by Reps. Jason Crow (D-Colo.) and Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), Pelosi thanked Zelenskyy for his “leadership and courage” and vowed that the United States is with Ukraine “until this fight is over.”
Coming just days after Russia reportedly launched missile strikes on Kyiv as United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was visiting, many questioned the logic of sending the leader of the House of Representatives and the third in line for the presidency to the embattled capital for a handshake and some photos.
“At the same time we’re being told that Russia shows no regard for collateral damage from its airstrikes, Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff are waltzing around Kiev,” tweeted foreign-policy analyst Clint Ehrlich. “It’s almost like they… aren’t afraid of being blown up. Weird!”

With the announcement of Jill Biden’s upcoming trip, some Twitter users can’t hide their snarky skepticism.
“It’s becoming obvious that the Democrats are using the Ukraine/Russia proxy war as a 2022 midterm campaign issue,” one user tweeted. “I think I know what they’re up to; the heavy emphasis on Ukraine. It won’t help them though. Democrats are going to be politicly humiliated on November 8, 2022.”
“Why?” asked another user. “What can she bring to the table as an unelected official? Who does she think she is? Hunter?”
“Poor thing, soiled diapers and drool all over the furniture became too much,” said another. “Enjoy the vacay.”
