Knicks radio announcer not a fan of Taylor Swift at MSG, triggers furor with hot mic moment

New York Knicks radio analyst Monica McNutt invited the fury of the “Swifties” with a hot mic moment expressing her thoughts about pop music superstar Taylor Swift, who showed up at Madison Square Garden for Wednesday’s game.

The stars once again descended on the venue for game four of the NBA Finals, with the hometown team looking to rebound from Monday’s loss to the San Antonio Spurs in a game that was attended by President Donald J. Trump.

Swift, who has been a fixture at the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs games for years, was spotted in a courtside seat clad in a blue shirt reading “Stevie Knicks,” sitting with her famous friends Alana and Este Haim, one of the most expensive seats in the house, which apparently didn’t sit well with McNutt.

During the broadcast, McNutt asked co-host Tyler Murray, “Is that Taylor Swift down there?”

After her partner expressed doubt that it really was the pop diva, McNutt said: “With that long ponytail, ain’t that her in the blue?”

Murray then whipped out his cellphone, seeming to zoom in on Swift, with McNutt then suggesting that the megastar singer shouldn’t be there because she’s not a fan of the hometown team.

“She’s not a Knicks fan,” McNutt said. “Get out of here, girl.”

The hot mic slip raised questions about Swift’s longtime loyalty to the Knicks, with one X reader note referring to a 2014 Time profile on the singer.

X users reacted to McNutt’s dissing of Swift.

Swift and the rest of the jam-packed house were treated to an instant classic with the Knicks overcoming an NBA Finals record 29-point deficit to stun the visitors 107-106, triggering pandemonium with a buzzer-beating tip-in by forward OG Anunoby.

The Knicks have a chance to put away the series on Saturday when the action shifts back to San Antonio, an opportunity to win the team’s first NBA championship in more than 50 years. It’s not clear if “Stevie Knicks” Swift will be in attendance.
