Lawrence Jones destroys deflecting Pete Buttigieg in TENSE interview: ‘Whoa, whoa, whoa, let me finish’

A contentious, interruption-filled interview saw Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg filibuster and gaslight while Fox News’ Lawrence Jones refused to let him skate, “With respect to you, Mr. Secretary…”

“Let me finish.”

Acting as a surrogate for the Harris-Walz campaign, Buttigieg was determined to avoid the matter of the 81-year-old elephant no longer in the room while furthering the claim that Americans would somehow be better with four more years of the same under his successor, Vice President Kamala Harris.

Jones wasn’t willing to let the cabinet member simply run out the clock with talking points after he led off with a telling interrogative Tuesday morning, “A lot of questions, though, about it, because the New York Times writes that all the cabinet meetings that the president has been having, have been scripted. They said nine months since the latest cabinet meeting. Axios writes that he’s only available for work between the hours of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the Wall Street Journal says, when it came down to the debt ceiling, negotiations back in ’23, [California Rep.] Nancy Pelosi (D) had to take over it. Is this the reason why he’s no longer the nominee for your party?”

“That’s funny,” began the deflection from the former mayor of South Bend, Indiana. Sometimes I feel like conservative media and the Republican Party still think they’re running against Joe Biden.”

As Buttigieg proceeded to rattle off supposed accomplishments under the Biden administration, Jones offered him the time to speak before reminding him the claims against the president hadn’t come from Fox News or the like. “But these weren’t conservative outlets.”

“But you’re a conservative outlet and the first thing you’re asking about is what time he was in a cabinet meeting instead of his achievements,” the secretary replied, refusing to acknowledge what the question was really about.

Unrelenting, the “Fox & Friends” co-host fired back, “So when did you guys know that the president was unfit to be on the ticket?”

“The president is not unfit to be-” tried Buttigieg as Jones added, “So why is he not the nominee right now?”

Attempting to draw a contrast between the GOP leader and the incumbent, the Democrat contended Biden, “did something that [former President] Donald Trump cannot comprehend which is to put his ego aside.”

After chiding Buttigieg for interrupting, Jones went on to further his point about the ticket, “You guys waited ’til after the debate, where everybody in America saw what happened that day, and all of these reports are coming out that you guys knew behind the scenes that cabinet members were frustrated, that he couldn’t do the negotiations with Nancy Pelosi and that she had to take it over-”

“What negotiations with Nancy Pelosi?” deflected the guest who used the interruption to pivot back to talking points before prompting further tension with claims about violent crime under Trump. Referring to the Republican as “an unrepentant convicted criminal” to contrast with “prosecutor” Harris, Buttigieg argued violent crime had gone up under the previous administration before being confronted with a voter’s view.

“With respect to you, Mr. Secretary, the people that are being killed in places all over the country, they look like me, they don’t look like you. And they’re upset with the Democratic Party not taking it seriously,” slammed Jones who went on to point out the beefed-up security in the Windy City. “You guys sent the cavalry in for you guys, for your protection, but the people of Chicago don’t see that on a day-to-day basis. What are you guys gonna do to stop the bloodshed in our community?”

“It’s the Democrats that run this city. Name the Republican that’s in charge,” hammered Jones after Buttigieg ate up time conveying feelings before pushing for gun-grabbing.

Reactions to the interview that ended with gaslighting on the economy saw Jones commended for staving off the combative secretary.
