Maddow might be next to go at MSNBC … hey, at least she’s white

It looks like Joy Reid isn’t the only casualty of MSNBC’s latest round of layoffs.

A report from The Guardian claims that “the majority of the employees” who work as Rachel Maddow’s production crew are going to be “let go as part of the network’s programming overhaul.” The company is giving these employees the option to apply for other roles within the network if they so choose.

Maddow will be able to keep her executive producer Cory Gnazzo and other senior producers, said those “directly familiar with the matter.”

“The Maddow team was let go because of a quirk of how they worked on both Maddow’s show and Alex Wagner’s show, when Maddow scaled back to hosting only Mondays and Wagner hosted Tuesday to Friday,” the outlet reported.

Maddow has modified her schedule to return to hosting her show five days a week to ensure breathless coverage of the first 100 days of President Donald Trump’s administration. Former Biden administration press secretary Jen Psaki will be taking over the Tuesday through Friday portion of the week once that period is over.

“An MSNBC source said that the changes were not ‘widespread layoffs’ but rather the reallocation of producers to support new programs and priorities. They said the new roles were being posted internally first and would not be posted externally until affected employees had had a chance to reapply,” The Guardian noted.

“Some staffers in Washington DC have privately expressed concern that the new postings could predominantly be in New York, where the hourly pay rates negotiated by the various unions are understood to be lower. New jobs in New York could also require relocation,” the article continues.

While these layoffs have been fodder for conservatives, leftists such as ex-MSNBC host Tiffany Cross are incensed by them and encouraging black news viewers to cut off the network that fired Reid.

“And I’m glad you’re not on camera, because I don’t want you to be associated with these remarks. And I apologize to Bishop Daughtry right now, because I’m going to try to stop myself from delivering some four-letter words, but I’ma just say,” Cross said. “Don’t watch where you’re not welcome! Don’t shop where they won’t hire you! The same thing they say. Don’t even hate-watch!”

“And don’t believe the hype, because what comes next are the attacks where they just start making up stuff. So brace yourself because y’all are going to hear the things and they don’t try to say some things because when movement happens, they don’t know how Black women move!” she added. “And because they don’t know that, they move like colonizers and then they try to put out an attack.”

A Maddow cut could be a good move for MSNBC. At least nobody can call fake racism on that one.
