Time and again, leftist prosecutors, judicial activists, or George Soros-funded district attorneys have been in the background of crimes committed as the revolving door of recidivism is kept spinning. Thursday, such was the case when a mother of two was forced to use her “beat-down stick” to ward off a burglar after putting her kids to bed.
“He was screaming really loudly, nonsensical. I couldn’t really understand except, ‘I’ll kill you, I’ll kill everyone,’ was really obvious,” 44-year-old Amanda Materi Brown recounted to KPTV. “I just went for him. I completely just started swinging the stick at him, and he started backing up out of the house, which was ideal.”
The decision to “meet crazy with crazy” was facilitated by her brother, whom she told KATU, had gifted her the weapon when she turned 18. She’s kept it close ever since.
After scaring the man off, alleged to be one 35-year-old Timothy Reed, she called 911, and the Portland Police Bureau reported, “She reported that the man threatened to kill them all. She armed herself with a stick and chased the man, who grabbed a metal garbage can lid and fled from the home.”
Reed was located shortly thereafter, still holding the metal garbage can lid as well as a rock that he allegedly used to strike one of the arresting officers, while shouting, “I’m not afraid of you, pig! I’ll kill you!”

Following continued ravings, the suspect offered apologies as an officer responded, “Too bad. You punched me in the face.”
“I love you. I’m sorry, brother,” said the suspect, who was booked on Burglary in the 1st Degree, Assault in the 2nd Degree, Assaulting a Public Safety Officer, and Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree. The officer struck with the rock, said to be “the size of a softball,” was treated at the hospital and released before being cleared to return to duty.
According to court records, Reed had been arrested days earlier for allegedly exposing himself to children and threatening to kill the responding officer.
“Deputy Farmer reports that he asked Reed why he’d been naked in front of children in the park, and Reed made rambling statements about ‘being told to do it by God’ and other nonsensical remarks,” read the documents. “Deputy Farmer asked Reed if he knew that there had been children in close proximity to him while he was naked, and he admitted that he knew, but didn’t see a problem with it.”
A statement submitted to KATU from the suspect’s brother, Scott, referred to the man by the nickname “Moth” and read in part, “Moth’s always had a big heart, full of compassion and creativity, he’s always used to help others. But that heart of his falls hard and bleeds hard, and coupled with a tough year of psychedelics, it finally took him over the edge.”
Reed appeared in Multnomah County Court on Monday, where the judge set bail at $150,000. His next court hearing is scheduled for June 9.
