Meet the anti-Border Patrol protesters arrested in Minnesota

Several of the anti-Border Patrol agitators arrested in Minnesota have criminal records, including one who beat up a pregnant woman.

Protestors gathered outside the SpringHill Suites by Marriott in Maple Grove, where they believed Border Patrol Commander Gregory Bovino was staying. It didn’t take long for things to devolve, and police moved in to declare the gathering an unlawful assembly. According to authorities, agitators allegedly began damaging property and throwing objects, which resulted in several arrests.

“The Maple Grove Police Department respects and upholds the First Amendment rights of individuals to peacefully assemble and express their views. Our priority remains the safety and security of all residents, visitors, and property within our community,” police noted in a statement to KSTP. “At that point, the activity was no longer considered peaceful. Individuals participating in criminal acts are not protected under the First Amendment and were subject to arrest.”

Fox News reported on the rap sheets of some of the arrestees, including Justin Neal Shelton, who was booked on obstruction charges.

“In 2007, Shelton pleaded guilty to a charge of first-degree aggravated robbery after prosecutors said he beat up a pregnant woman while he and another individual were trying to steal her car, according to the Pioneer Press,” the outlet reported.

When she asked Shelton and his associate to leave, they pushed her onto the ground and assaulted her, even hitting her with a bottle. Luckily, the unborn child was not harmed during the attack, and Shelton was sentenced to five years in prison. Records also indicate that as recently as October 2020, he was “convicted of possessing a firearm or ammunition after committing a violent crime, court records show.”

And then there’s 45-year-old Abraham Nelson Coleman, who was booked on damage to property.

“She was escorted out of a U.S. Senate hearing in September after she allegedly disrupted the hearing and accused committee members of being “complicit” in genocide in Israel, according to Democracy Now,” the outlet wrote. “Guilbeau posted an Instagram video on Monday night showing her with agitators, calling the police response a ‘military operation.'”
