Mom emotional when she discovers daughters saved treasure trove of notes from dad she never knew about

A mother of three young daughters shared her overwhelming emotion after discovering her husband had been slipping inspirational notes into their children’s school lunch: “meant to be a girl dad.”

Early in December, 33-year-old Sabrina Clendenin took to TikTok to share the surprising collection her daughters had amassed in their drawers. Spread out across two tables in her home were dozens of sticky notes written by her husband Jordan that had been tucked in with their daughters’ lunches.

She joined ABC’s “Good Morning America” where she discussed the find and how much it meant to her and the girls, “What I laid out on the tables were not even all of them. When I came across them all stuffed in a drawer, I was like, ‘What in the world?’ and then I started reading them and … I got a little emotional because I didn’t know he was even doing specific days.”

Clendenin’s original post included the caption,  “Why am I crying…he was meant to be a girl dad,” as she highlighted some of the missives that read, “We are so proud of you for doing well with school. You’re such a kind, smart, funny girl. Love you,” and “You are amazing! You are the coolest 8yr old I know!”

“There’s a ‘What am I Wednesday,’ ‘Fun Fact Friday,’ ‘Motivational Monday’ and I was just like, this is literally the cutest thing I’ve ever seen,” she told the outlet, describing the notes that sometimes had riddles, drawings or trivia. “And the fact that the girls kept them, I think that’s what meant so much and they just enjoy it every day, clearly.”

The original video had amassed over two million views and the mom suggested that after sharing her husband’s efforts at staying engaged, “There [are] some dads like, ‘Wow, I’m kind of inspired to start writing notes and do that because obviously it means a lot to them.'”

“So I think that’s really cute. I thought that was sweet to see all those dads be like, ‘I’m gonna step up my game,'” she added.

“He just gives them this great confidence that I think every child in general needs growing up,” Clendenin went on and others agreed with the sentiment as they shared their own reactions to the touching video.

“What a wonderful father. If everyone had a father like him I can’t imagine how much better our world [would] be,” one wrote as another opined, “What a smart, beautiful, caring and loving dad…You don’t know what a note can bring or do to someone.”

“Wow, this is awesome,” and, “That is magic,” others chimed in.

As to whether or not Jordan will ever retire his pen and notepad, the mother suggested, “I don’t think he can stop now. I think he’s locked in for life. They’re gonna be in college and they’re gonna expect those notes.”
