Norma Hale, the mother of transgender Nashville school shooter Audrey Hale who shot and killed three children and three adults at a private Christian school, stated on Monday, “I think I just lost my daughter,” as previous Facebook postings emerged showing that she is a gun control advocate.

The mother discussed her 28-year-old daughter, who was born female but was living as a man named Aiden, with ABC News not long after Audrey Hale, 28, was named as the shooter.
“It’s very, very difficult right now. I think I lost my daughter today,” she said requesting privacy for her family as they come to grips with Hale’s death and actions.
Police released footage of a heavily armed Hale breaking into the school and going on a calculated well-planned murder spree. The graphic designer had detailed maps to guide her during the massacre and she wrote a manifesto as well. She had copies of both in her car and at home according to investigators.
The motive has not been disclosed yet, but Hale was reportedly a student at the school previously. Nashville Metro PD Chief John Drake told NBC News that he believed “resentment” was most likely the motivating factor behind the atrocity.

The mother’s social media posts decrying school shootings and calling for increased gun control have surfaced in the wake of her daughter’s slaughter at the school.
On February 21, 2018, she posted a petition that called for large-capacity gun magazines to be made illegal in response to the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in 2012. On March 8, 2018, she put up another petition calling for guns to be kept out of schools.
Hale’s parents were described by a neighbor as “very nice” and “very religious,” according to the Daily Mail. They also have a son named Scott who is a law student and lives in Brooklyn.
An anonymous friend described Audrey Hale to the Daily Mail as “sweet and funny” hours after the transgender killer opened fire at the Christian school.
How soon till the terrible tragedy of the Nashville shooting is totally out of the news now that the shooter is known to be Trans? pic.twitter.com/YLWFKhWgoU

Incredible. The New York Times apologizes for misgendering the Nashville mass shooter who murdered three kids and three adults because it disrespects the murderer’s memory and identity. Truly a cult. Woke mind virus in full swing. pic.twitter.com/yT0J6ldsC1

“What she did was unforgivable but when I knew her she was a sweet and funny girl. When she came out as trans (female to male) no one was surprised,” the friend remarked. “She really didn’t fit the school shooter archetype. I don’t know what would have happened to turn her into this person we see on the news. Everyone in my graduating class is losing it on Facebook. Really none would have seen this coming.”
“We went to Nashville School of the Arts in high school, where we had several trans students and others who were a part of the LGBTQ community,” the friend continued. “We were both in Visual Arts classes together and she was very involved with the school and had several friends.”
Hale reportedly arrived at The Covenant School at around 10:13 am armed with two assault-style rifles and a handgun, breaking through the Presbyterian school’s doors and then shooting and killing Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney, all aged nine. Substitute teacher Cynthia Peak, 61, head of school Katherine Koonce, 60, and custodian Mike Hill, 61, were also murdered.

Fourteen minutes after the shooting began, Hale was shot and killed by two Nashville police officers named Rex Engelbart and Michael Collazo.

According to Drake who spoke at a press conference, Hale had allegedly planned another attack at a separate school but ruled it out because there was too much security there.
“We have a manifesto, we have some writings that we’re going over that pertain to this day,” the police chief stated. “We have a map drawn out of how this was all gonna take place. There’s right now a theory that we may put out later but it’s not confirmed. We’ll put that out as soon as we can.”
