NBC News poll claims ‘threats to democracy’ more important to voters than putting food on the table

In what’s being billed as “a major new poll,” a new NBC News survey would have you believe that Americans are more concerned about “threats to democracy” than they are about putting food on the table — all of which works out well for Democrats who paint themselves as “pro-democracy.”

Amid 40-year high inflation and skyrocketing gas prices that have fallen in recent weeks, but remain nearly double what they were when President Biden was elected, respondents were asked: “What do you think is the most important issue facing the country?”

While “threats to democracy” topped the list, it’s noteworthy that the “threats” were not defined — the Biden Justice Department and the FBI, in particular, having apparently been weaponized by the White House to go after political opponents, namely a former president, could be seen in the eyes of many as one of those threats.

According to the poll, three-quarters of voters — 74% — say the county is headed in the wrong direction, a record 58% say America’s best years are behind it and 61% say they’re willing to carry a protest sign for a day because they’re so upset, NBC News reported.

Despite the negative outlook of the nation under Democratic rule and Biden’s dismal approval rating, the survey had plenty of good news for the party. Citing the June Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade, the results suggest Democrats have closed the enthusiasm gap.

“The Supreme Court ruling has shaken up the electorate,” said Democratic pollster Jeff Horwitt,  who conducted the survey with Republican pollster Bill McInturff.

Ironically, the issue of abortion doesn’t show up in his poll until the eighth position, so go figure.

Even better news for Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., the poll claims that 57% of registered voters say that the investigations into alleged wrongdoing by Trump should continue, which means there’s likely to be a second running of the one-sided, Soviet-style Jan. 6 show trial.

“By party, 92% of Democratic voters, 61% of independents but only 21% of Republican voters think the investigations into Trump should continue, NBC News noted.

Needless to say, the Kool-Aid drinkers on the left are jacked over the poll:

Meanwhile, rational-minded folks have a different take:
