Newsom secretly partially funded $97k bust of himself in City Hall

A monumental revelation out of San Francisco revealed the “next level narcissism” of the former mayor turned governor of the once-Golden State.

For better or worse, California will be getting a new executive after the 2026 election as term-limited Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D) political future remains uncertain. While the launch of a podcast has many suspecting a desperate rebrand is underway, foreshadowing a run at the White House, details of his past remains inescapable- including contributions to the $97,000 price tag of his own bust at City Hall.

“You can’t make this up. Gavin Newsom secretly partially funded the creation of his own monument in San Francisco’s City Hall. The total cost was $97,000,” shared Libs of TikTok on X with an image of the statue in question. “He donated $ from companies he owns to a nonprofit and earmarked the payments for ‘Mayoral Bust at San Francisco City Hall.'”

Jedd McFatter, who co-authored the newly released “Fool’s Gold: The Radicals, Con Artists, and Traitors Who Killed the California Dream and Now Threaten Us All” with Susan Crabtree, was quoted by Breitbart as stating, “An analysis of Newsom’s ‘behested payments’ reveals that between late 2015 and early 2016 three private organizations each donated to a nonprofit called Community Initiatives. As it turns out, two of those payments came from companies owned by Newsom – Balboa Cafe Partners and PlumbJack Management Group.”

“Newsom’s companies specifically earmarked these behested payments for ‘Mayoral Bust at San Francisco City Hall,'” added McFatter as California law permitted politicians to request where donors might direct dollars in their name.

In May 2015, SFGate reported, “The bust is the brainchild of Newsom supporters, and it will be paid for with private funds they will raise, said Newsom. It has ‘been in the works for a few years, but no one’s worked on it…It’s been an idea that’s been floating around.’ He says he doesn’t even know who those supporters and fundraisers are.”

At the time the bust was unveiled, Newsom was lieutenant governor of California, campaigning for his first term as governor.

Now, many consider him to be among the top contenders for the 2028 Democratic Party presidential nomination, with conservative syndicated radio host Dana Loesch going as far as to suggest he was the “new Democrat messiah.”

“They can’t go any further left. Where is there to go further left?” she’d posited during an appearance on Fox News’s “Jesse Watters Primetime.”

“I mean, you end up lapping yourself at that point. So they have to go all the way to the middle, and Gavin Newsom is how they’re floating it. So he hosts this podcast where he doesn’t go on everyone else’s shows. He brings them on his, so he establishes relevancy for himself beyond 2026 when he turns out. So he has this platform, and he’s going to use it as a marketing tool to help leverage him into the White House,” Loesch asserted. “He’ll move to the middle. Democrats will look at him like he’s some sort of soothsayer, and he’s their new Democrat messiah. They’re going to get behind him. You know, the media, they’ll care his baggage.”

As to the revelations about the bust’s funding, many were stuck on the ego of the politician while others couldn’t get over the quote he’d chosen that read, “If you distill the essence of everything, what life is about, every single one of us is given a short moment in time on this planet, and we all have one universal need and desire, and that is to love and be loved.”
