NYC lib of ‘average male height’ reamed when he calls for oversized pickups to be ‘illegal’

What is it with those on the left who are consumed with telling other people how to live their lives?

A social media user under the name Tyler Newcomb, who prominently displays his “he/him” pronouns and identifies himself in his Twitter profile as an “EMT and advocate for safe streets,” shared an image of himself standing next to what appears to be a Ford Super Duty pickup truck.

“I’m the average male height [at] 5’9″. This vehicle should be illegal,” he tweeted.

As you might expect, Newcomb was met with some serious blowback over his call to have government regulate what kind of vehicles we are allowed to drive and how high they can be.

Yet, his answer was to double down on his call, rather than learning the valuable lesson that a government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take everything you have.

“Well holy sh-t, this one blew up,” Newcomb said in a follow-up tweet. “A few things: yes, some folks need trucks for work. I happen to be one. That doesn’t mean these dangerous, fashion over function designs should be legal. The NHTSA could regulate hood height and frontal visibility to reduce the danger.”

“To anyone who has insulted my height, please stop protecting your insecurities onto me,” he added. “I’m very comfortable with my height, and the fact that I’m the National average is conveniently illustrative here. It’s comical that truck bros think my height is the point of this.”

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story from those who oppose more government control in our lives:

On the other hand, as we have learned via the pandemic, there is a disturbingly large contingency of Americans clamoring for authorities to dictate the parameters of life:
