Pathetic lawfare effort made to stop Trump’s ‘deeply corrupt’ White House UFC fight

A federal lawsuit has been filed to stop the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fight set to be held on the White House lawn this week as a part of the nation’s 250th birthday celebration.

“This will be one of the greatest and most historic sports events in history, and President Trump hosting it at the White House is a testament to his vision to celebrate America’s monumental 250th anniversary,” White House spokesperson Davis Ingle said in a recent statement to media outlets of the June 14 fight which is scheduled to be held on Flag Day and President Donald J. Trump’s 80th birthday.

As final preparations are being completed, “The Claw,” a 600-ton, 92-foot-tall structure for the octagon fighting ring, has been erected on the South Lawn of the White House and is ready for the action. But a pair of spoilsports are looking to thwart the fun with their desperate attempt to use lawfare to KO the event.

On Saturday, the Public Integrity Project, which bills itself as an anti-corruption watchdog, filed the lawsuit in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia on behalf of a pair of Virginia residents against the National Park Service and the Department of the Interior, seeking an emergency injunction to halt the event one week before the action goes down.

Attorneys for the plaintiffs – a political activist and a Vietnam vet – argue that the event is “deeply corrupt” and cite issues with the permitting process and the construction of “The Claw” without congressional authorization. The suit also slams UFC President Dana White and alleges that Trump and his associates could benefit financially from the event.

“This plan is deeply corrupt. The event, billed as ‘UFC Freedom 250,’ is (as the name suggests) being organized by the UFC, whose chief executive, Dana White, is a close friend and ally of the President. The President is giving White and his company what none have enjoyed before: unfettered access to the White House and Lincoln Memorial to stage a private, for-profit sports event, with all the promotional and branding opportunities that accompany such access,” the filing reads.

“It is not in any material sense a ‘celebration of the 250th anniversary of American Independence’—it is, instead, a celebration of the UFC’s brand and the 80th anniversary of Donald Trump’s birth,” the lawsuit states.

“The case was assigned on Sunday to Judge Amit P. Mehta, an Obama appointee in Federal District Court in Washington who will face the early question of whether the plaintiffs face direct harms because of the event in such a way that they can sue,” according to the New York Times.

“We’re building something in front of the White House that’s quite attractive to a lot of people,” the president said of “The Claw” in a video on TikTok last week. “It’s gonna have the big UFC fight on June 14 … maybe we’ll never ever take it down.”

The pathetic attempt to force the event to be cancelled is just more of the same abuse of the legal system that has powered the resistance to Trump, with the left turning to ideologically friendly judges to thwart the duly elected president.
