Pelosi calls new Trump indictment ‘heartbreaking’ while praising defunct J6 committee for its role

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi claimed that the new criminal charges against former President Trump over Jan. 6 were “heartbreaking” as she donned her trademark plastered smile, looking thrilled and almost giddy at the prospect.

Pelosi (D-CA) sat down with CNN host Jake Tapper for an interview on Wednesday to crow over Trump’s third indictment.

“It’s heartbreaking for our country to have a president of the United States with this list of charges against him,” Pelosi stated on “The Lead With Jake Tapper.”

Despite the House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack now being defunct, Pelosi was full of praise over its biased and politically-motivated work. She pointed out with glee that the recommended charges against the former president are strikingly similar to the charges in special counsel Jack Smith’s 2020 presidential election interference investigation.

“It’s interesting to see how similar they are to some of the charges recommended by the January 6 committee and I commend, again, the committee,” Pelosi reiterated. “I’m so proud of them.”

Trump is facing charges of conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempting to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights after being indicted on Tuesday, charges that many experts agree are flimsy and will not stand on appeal.

“Beyond his most recent indictment, Trump is facing many other legal woes,” The Hill reported. “These come in the form of an indictment in New York City over hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels, another federal indictment and superseding indictment in the other special counsel case surrounding Trump’s document keeping post-presidency, and another possible indictment in Fulton County, Ga., focused on Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election in the state.”

Pelosi released an official statement after the indictment was handed down, continuing to promote her political agenda and Democratic talking points in an obvious effort to keep Trump from being re-elected at any cost to the nation.

“The charges alleged in this indictment are very serious, and they must play out through the legal process, peacefully and without any outside interference. Like every criminal defendant, the former President is innocent until proven guilty. Our Founders made clear that, in the United States of America, no one is above the law – not even the former President of the United States,” Pelosi hypocritically asserted.

“Through the meticulous and patriotic work of the bipartisan Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack, evidence was uncovered about the sinister plot to overturn the presidential election and prevent the peaceful transfer of power, which culminated in deadly insurrection. Now, following the Justice Department’s further investigation, a federal grand jury has indicted the former President,” she enthusiastically announced.

“As this case proceeds through the courts, justice must be done according to the facts and the law,” Pelosi concluded.

Pelosi also addressed the latest charges against Trump while speaking at the Voters Tomorrow submit in Washington, DC, while taking a swipe at anyone who dares support the former president.

“The very idea that we’re talking about such things … the very idea that his supporters think he is above the law,” she railed.

“Some thug has now turned the Republican Party into a cult to him,” Pelosi raged concerning Trump. “I used to call him a pig, but I thought at least a pig has bacon.”

Republicans saw the indictment as further proof of political persecution against Trump to keep him out of office.

“Is it any coincidence that the DOJ rushes to add these new indictments today after the Hunter debacle, after their own self-dealing and two-timing is exposed after they tried to hide from us the true extent of this plea deal that gets blown up, and then it’s like, ‘Oh, we got to go indict Trump on something else,’” Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) told Fox News.

“I mean, it’s so brazen right now what they’re doing. It is really a subversion of the rule of law,” he contended. “I mean, taking the rule of law, turning it on its head.”

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) referred to a two-tiered justice system.

“The DOJ’s decision to pursue additional charges against President Trump is further evidence of the politicization of our nation’s top prosecutorial agency,” Blackburn tweeted. “Amid AG Garland’s dismissal of wrongdoing by Hunter Biden & Hillary Clinton, Tennesseans are tired of two tiers of justice.”
