Peter Navarro just sentenced to 4 months in jail for defying sham J6 panel subpoena, Hunter gets pass

In what reeks of a third-world government where the power of the state is used to jail political enemies, former Trump adviser Peter Navarro was sentenced to four months in jail for contempt of Congress after defying a subpoena issued by former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s sham select committee “investigating” the January 6, 2021, protest at the U.S. Capitol.

The timing of the sentence comes on the heels of Hunter Biden defying a congressional subpoena, which should serve as a reminder to all concerned that in an age of a weaponized Justice Department, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

Navarro was convicted on two counts of contempt of Congress in September and U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta dared to fault the Trump adviser for stating the obvious, that his prosecution was politically motivated.

“I guess what bothers me ultimately is that here we are after a year and a half plus and you still want to suggest to me that this is a political prosecution. You want me to believe this is a political prosecution,” the Obama appointee said with a raised voice during sentencing, according to CNN. “When the evidence is completely to the contrary.”

“You are not a victim. You are not the object of a political prosecution,” the judge said. “These are the circumstances of your own making.”

Mehta did reduce the DOJ-requested fine of $200,000 to $9,500.

Navarro becomes the second Trump adviser to be sentenced to prison for refusing to cooperate with the one-sided Jan. 6 committee. Steve Bannon was also found guilty of defying a subpoena and received the same 4-month sentence, which was suspended after Bannon submitted an appeal.

Hunter Biden was a common theme for social media users, as was the Republican Party’s tendency to fire off yet another “strongly worded” letter to protest injustices.

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
