‘Pray for Anne’: Family of Anne Heche asks fans to keep actress in their thoughts after fiery high-speed crash

The family of Anne Heche is asking fans for their prayers as the 53-year-old actress recovers in the ICU from serious burns after plowing her Mini into a home at 90mph and sparking a fireball during what was allegedly a drunk driving incident.

As BizPac Review reported, after first crashing into the garage of an apartment complex and speeding off, Heche mowed down a hedge and rammed into a Mar Vista home in Los Angeles. Upon impact, her car burst into flames, trapping Heche inside and setting the house on fire.

Fifty-nine firefighters worked for 65 minutes to extinguish the “stubborn flames” and pull Heche out of the wreckage.

“The house had tons of smoke. I think they used the crane to move the car to extract the driver. It was crazy,” one witness told NBC Los Angeles.

Miraculously, Heche was conscious and communicative as firefighters pulled the mother of two from the car, according to Los Angeles Fire Department Captain Erik Scott.

“When we arrived on scene, we had a solo vehicle that appeared to be driving at a high rate of speed on a perpendicular street and launched through the front yard, into the home,” Scott told ABC 7. “So deep … about 30 feet in.”

“She was talking to us at the time that we were able to pull her out, so that’s a good sign,” he added.

A representative of Heche’s family has told People Magazine that Heche is currently in “stable condition” after suffering burns and being intubated.

“Her family and friends ask for your thoughts and prayers and to respect her privacy during this difficult time,” the rep said.

On Instagram, actor James Tupper, with whom Heche shared a more than 10-year relationship, called Heche a “lovely woman.” Tupper is the father of Heche’s 13-year-old son, Atlas, The couple split up in 2018.

“Thoughts and prayers for this lovely woman, actress and mother tonight Anne Heche,” he wrote. “We love you.”

Also offering “thoughts and prayers” is ex-boyfriend Thomas Jane, who told the Daily Mail that Heche is “one of the true talents of her generation.”

‘While Anne and I are no longer an item, todays tragic news was devastating to me and to all who love her,” said Jane, who worked with Heche on the HBO series, Hung. The two dated in 2019 and 2020.

“My heart goes out to Anne and her two sons,” he continued. “As of right now Anne is stable and expected to pull through. My thoughts and prayers are with Anne, one of the true talents of her generation. Thank God no one else was hurt.”

Much of Heche’s insane Los Angeles ride was caught on film.

TMZ reports that Heche was allegedly seen racing through a residential neighborhood prior to the accident.

The blue Mini Cooper was also spotted speeding down a Mar Vista street just moments before Heche crashed it into the home.

And cameras were rolling overhead as Heche was pulled from the car and rolled on a stretcher to the waiting ambulance. She can be seen writhing in pain and, at one point, bolting upright.

Just hours before the crash, on her most recent podcast episode, Heche was allegedly slurring her words and joking about drinking vodka with wine chaser as she explained that she’d been having “a very unique day,” the Daily Mail reports.

It is unclear whether the podcast was recorded that fateful day or if it was only airing on the day of the crash, but Anne’s words are nothing short of chilling given what would soon happen.

“I don’t know what happened,” she said. “Sometimes days just suck and I don’t know if you ever have them [but] some days, those no good, very bad days, and some days days just end up like this.”

“Sometimes days just suck and I don’t know if you ever have them, but you know some days, Mama says just gonna be like this,” she continued. “Some days there’s those no good, very bad days.”
