President Trump RESCINDS Canada’s invite to Board of Peace

President Donald J. Trump announced on Thursday that Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is no longer welcome to join his “Board of Peace,” which seeks to resolve global conflicts, beginning with the war-torn Gaza Strip.

Taking to Truth Social, Trump rescinded Carney’s invitation.

“Dear Prime Minister Carney: Please let this Letter serve to represent that the Board of Peace is withdrawing its invitation to you regarding Canada’s joining, what will be, the most prestigious Board of Leaders ever assembled, at any time,” the president posted. “Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Earlier this week, at the World Economic Forum, Trump asserted that “Canada lives because of the United States.”

“Remember that, Mark, the next time you make your statements,” the president warned.

Carney countered Thursday in a speech in Quebec City, “Canada doesn’t live because of the United States. Canada thrives because we are Canadian.”

Carney expressed his thoughts on the proposed board while in Davos, criticizing Israel for allegedly blocking humanitarian aid in Gaza while offering his take on how the board, which was backed by the United Nations Security Council in November, should look.

Approximately 50 world leaders were invited to join the board, Russia and China included — Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping have yet to accept. Pope Leo was also invited, and he is reportedly evaluating the proposal.

Overall, 35 countries have committed to joining the Board of Peace so far, according to Reuters, which cited a senior White House official.

“These include Middle East allies such as Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar and Egypt,” Reuters reported. “NATO members Turkey and Hungary, whose nationalist leaders have cultivated good personal ties with Trump, have also agreed to take part, as have Morocco, Pakistan, Indonesia, Kosovo, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Paraguay, and Vietnam.”

Others that have accepted include Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Belarus.

Spain’s openly socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez rejected his country’s invitation, citing a belief in multilateralism and the United Nations system, according to the news agency.

“We appreciate the invitation, but we decline,” Sanchez told reporters late on Thursday.
