Prissy Trudeau throws tariff tantrum: We’re not going to Florida!

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau cried his poor little heart out about U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs during a press conference on Tuesday.

Speaking from Ottawa, he angrily said that he and other Canadians are hurt and dismayed by the tariffs and plan to fight back by boycotting American products, services, sports, etc.

Listen:

“This is a policy decision by the American government designed to go after the Canadian economy,” he began. “This is a trade war, yes, but Canadians, yeah, Canadians are hurt. Canadians are angry. We’re gonna choose to not go on vacation in Florida or Old Orchard Beach or wherever. We’re going to choose to try to buy Canadian products and forego bourbon and other classic American products.”

“And yeah, we’re probably gonna keep booing the American anthem, but let me tell Americans we’re not booing you, we’re not booing your teams, we’re not booing your players. We’re booing a policy that is designed to hurt us. And we’re insulted, and we’re angry, but we’re Canadian, which means we’re gonna stand up for each other. We’re gonna fight, and we’re going to win,” he added.

His tough-guy remarks prompted immediate mockery on social media.

During the presser, Trudeau also used an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal to suggest Trump is “dumb.”

“I want to speak directly to one specific American, Donald — it’s not in my habit to agree with the Wall Street Journal, but Donald, they point out that even though you’re a very smart guy, this is a very dumb thing to do,” he said.

The Canadian PM also accused his U.S. counterpart of wanting to wreck Canada’s economy so that it has no other choice but to be annexed by America.

“What he [Trump] wants to see is a total collapse of the Canadian economy because that will make it easier to annex us,” Trudeau said. “That is never going to happen. We will never be the 51st state.”

The good news for Trudeau is that the Trump administration is reportedly already putting together a compromise to resolve the current impasse, according to U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.

On Tuesday, Lutnick told Fox Business Network that Trump is now considering lowering the tariffs on Canada (and Mexico) after seeing some proof that they’re doing more to stop the flow of drugs across their borders.

“Both the Canadians and Mexicans were on the phone with me all day today trying to show that they’ll do better, so I think [Trump] is going to work something out with them,” he said. “It’s not going to be a pause — none of that pause stuff.”

“But I think he’s going to figure out, ‘you do more, and I’ll meet you in the middle some way.’ And we’re probably going to be announcing that tomorrow. So somewhere in the middle will likely be the outcome,” he added.
