Project 2025 rolls out independent fact check blitz to shut down Harris, other critics’ lies

The Heritage Foundation is firing back at critics who have been up in arms over a framework to build a “better country for all Americans,” rolling out dozens of fact-checks to shut down detractors.

Despite the Heritage Foundation having released similar frameworks in election years over the last decades, the latest, called Project 2025, has sparked criticism on both sides of the aisle, particularly on the left. Democrats have repeatedly hammered former President Donald Trump and other Republicans for the plan, fear-mongering Americans about the coming takeover by the GOP.

However, Trump has repeatedly denied any connection to the framework and has never used the plan as his platform. Project 2025, also known as the “Presidential Transition Project,” reiterated that Trump has no affiliation.

The project took aim at several criticisms from the left that falsely connected Trump to the undertaking and that mischaracterized some of the more than 900 proposals in the framework.

Vice President Kamala Harris claimed that Trump “intends to cut Social Security and Medicare.”

But Project 2025 proposes “no changes to Social Security,” according to Heritage Foundation spokesperson Mary Vought who added that Harris should “follow her own advice and read the book, instead of promoting lies and disinformation.”

Because vice presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) has written a foreword to an upcoming book by Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts, he is being linked as a partner with the project.

Roberts slammed Harris for claims that are “breathtaking in [their] dishonesty” when addressing alleged restrictions on in-vitro fertilization (IVF) and contraception that are supposedly included in the manual.

“It’s so blatant that even corporate media outlets like CNN are calling out her lies. She has no policy record to run on, except her shambolic tenure as border czar,” he said, according to Fox News.

Roberts told Fox News that Project 2025 is being attacked by “two sets of lies. First, that Project 2025 is connected with the Trump campaign. It’s not.”

“Second, that Project 2025 proposes all manner of wild, extreme policies. It doesn’t. Dozens of independent fact-checks prove that [Harris] is lying, along with an army of paid influencers online. But the truth will win out in the end,” he said.
