Could Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez be the next JFK? According to longtime GOP operative Karl Rove, the answer is a resounding no.

On Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime” Friday, the eponymous host jokingly asked Rove whether Ocasio-Cortez could indeed be the next John F. Kennedy — or, at the very least, the 2024 Democrat presidential nominee.

In a pre-interview bit, he correctly noted that the current bench lineup is “thin” and then argued that maybe, just maybe, Ocasio-Cortez would be the “perfect candidate” given as she’s the quintessential liberal.

“She has so much to offer. She has a way with words. … And if that doesn’t give you complete confidence, think about it this way — isn’t it about time to bring some youth back to the White House?” he said while playing clips from her Instagram.

“AOC connects now, doesn’t she? But her expertise isn’t limited to skin care. She is the foreign policy buff of the squad. … But of all the things I just told you about, I think her greatest strength is economics.”

Once the interview with Rove began, the GOP operative conceded that it’d indeed be great for the Republican Party if Ocasio-Cortez were to be the 2024 nominee.

“Wouldn’t it be great if you were right [about Ocasio-Cortez], because it would be such a fun campaign, and the Republicans would win overwhelmingly, even if they ran you or me. We’d win. I mean, hey, let me tell you a secret, she is not very bright,” he said.

Watters immediately pushed back by noting that the chances of current President Joe Biden running for reelection seem slim, so someone else will have to eventually step up.

Rove concurred with this analysis but added that Vice President Kamala Harris is also out of the running.

“I’ve said this for over a year — he is not going to be the nominee in 2024. The Democrats are not going to nominate an 82-year-old who’s lost more than one step. It’s not going to be Kamala Harris [either]. … The woman is dreadful,” he said.

“There’s a reason why Marianne Williamson and Joaquin Castro and Pete Buttigieg … all lasted a lot longer than Kamala Harris, and that is because she is a dreadful human being. She is a terrible candidate. And the only thing that you got to try and focus on is the weird laugh that pops out at inappropriate moments.”

Rove then zeroed in on the question at hand — who will the nominee be. Unfortunately, he lacked an answer, though he did know who the nominee won’t be.

“I don’t really know who it’s going to be, but I can tell you four people that it ain’t going to be. It’s not going to be Joe Biden. It’s not going to be Kamala Harris. It’s not going to be AOC. And I hate to break the news to you, because I’m sure you would enjoy it if she were a candidate. I don’t think it’s going to be Hillary Clinton,” he said.

Taken aback by Rove’s analysis, Watters asked for confirmation regarding Ocasio-Cortez.

“You’re saying AOC is out of it. Like there’s no way she could jump into this primary with Biden out, with Kamala in, with Mayor Pete in, with Crooked not in? You’re saying AOC couldn’t get in there and start winning?” he asked.

Rove then confirmed that this is, indeed, the case.

“I saw her in Austin a couple years ago. I think it was South by Southwest, so it may have been the Texas Trib Festival. I’ve rarely heard so many uhms and uhs and ahs from anybody,” he said.

“I mean, the woman is vacuous. There is a reason why she loves to communicate on Instagram. Because it’s a limited exposure and you can spend a lot of time talking about moisturizer. I mean, please!”

That being said, hypothetically speaking, were she to be the nominee, some critics suspect she’d be the perfect puppet candidate for the establishment.

While it’s true that she talks quite a radical game, her actions — siding with the establishment virtually every single time — belie her rhetoric.

She’s in many ways the opposite of former congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, a true maverick who routinely challenges establishment narratives and isn’t afraid to hobnob with dissidents of all stripes.
