Same ‘ol CBS tries to shame Trump over Renee Good’s grieving ‘MAGA’ dad

Making time for an interview, also found the president putting the latest face of “CBS Evening News” in his place moments after asking about the supporter’s dad of an alleged “domestic terrorist.”

With all eyes on affordability as 2026 gets underway, President Donald Trump added a visit to one of Ford’s Dearborn, Michigan, factories at the Rouge Complex. Amid talk of the economy, he paused for an interview with CBS News’ Tony Dokoupil, only to have to push back on an angle about the father of the deceased anti-ICE activist from Minnesota, Renee Good, before offering a suggestion about who was responsible for the anchor’s current gig.

Pivoting off the economy, Dokoupil said, “I’ve got an important question about the situation in Minnesota; the death of Renee Nicole Good. I’ve been speaking to her father, who is a big supporter of yours-”

“Good,” interjected Trump as the anchor continued, “like many Americans are. But he’s heartbroken right now.”

“I can understand that,” added the chief executive, before the interviewer posited, “He’s heartbroken because his daughter is dead. That’s obvious. He’s also heartbroken because your administration so quickly has come out and said she’s a domestic terrorist. What do you want to say to her father right now?”

The president began, “Well, I wanna say to the father that I love all of our people. They can be on the other side. As you say, he might be on my side-”

“He is on your side,” Dokoupil jumped in as Trump went on. “And I think that’s great. And I do. I think it’s great. And I would bet you that she, under normal circumstances, was a very solid, wonderful person. But her actions were pretty tough. I’ve seen it in many ways and many different shapes and forms. But the bottom line is — look, we have hundreds of thousands of murderers in our country; killers. ICE is trying to get them out. They were let in through an open border policy of sleepy Joe Biden.”

“ICE is working very hard to get ’em out. Their job is being made very, very difficult. And you know, when you look at that tape, it can be viewed two ways, I guess. But when you look at the way that car was pulled away, there were a couple of versions of that tape that are very, very bad,” he added.

Shortly thereafter, Trump found himself suggesting that Dokoupil wouldn’t have his role as anchor of “CBS Evening News” if the 2024 election had been won by then-Vice President Kamala Harris.

The anchor quickly pivoted away from the video evidence out of Minnesota to paint a picture of Americans across the country dissatisfied with the state of the economy,

As he reminded Dokoupil about all that had been inherited from the Biden-Harris administration, the president also suggested his election was a linchpin in the anchor obtaining his current role at CBS News. “Tony, we have now the hottest country in the world, and a year and a half ago, our country was dead. We had a dead country. You wouldn’t have a job right now. If [Harris] got in, you probably wouldn’t have a job right now. Your boss, who’s an amazing guy, might be bust. Okay?”

“Might be what?” replied the anchor regarding the president’s position on CBS News parent company Paramount Skydance’s CEO, David Ellison, who was responsible for Bari Weiss taking on the role of CBS News editor-in-chief.

“Might be bust. I doubt it in his case, but you never know. Let me just tell you, you wouldn’t have this job, you wouldn’t have this job, certainly whatever the hell they’re paying you,” added Trump.

Before the interview officially ended, Dokoupil attempted to get the last word on his job, suggesting he would have earned his anchor role no matter how the 2024 election went. However, Trump had the final say on the topic, responding, “Yeah, but at a lesser salary.”
