The family of the 14-year-old who opened fire at a Georgia high school reacted to the carnage by posting cryptic threats on social media, a bizarre reaction to the tragic incident.
On Wednesday, Colt Gray gunned down two of his fellow students and two teachers at Apalachee High School in Winder, GA in another one of the horrific school shootings that have become regular occurrences in modern America.
Taken into custody after the shooting, authorities announced that the young man would be tried as an adult and some of his relatives took to social media in the aftermath, including a woman claiming to be Gray’s aunt who posted a bizarre and cryptic implied threat that the clan will go “full throttle.”
“They are charging my 14yo nephew as an adult, for murder,” Annie Polhamus Brown said on Facebook in a since-deleted post. “Y’all ready to see Polhamus blood in full throttle? Nah, I wouldn’t either.”

In another post, she pleaded for help with contacting the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
“Please someone get me in touch with GBI!!! I’ve tried calling!” Polhamus Brown wrote. “I am not scared, I will not back down.”

“I will NOT disrespect other parents and families that are dealing with this tragedy on the opposite end. They DID NOT DESERVE THIS!!!!,” she wrote. “I WILL NOT do anything but humbly support the families involved in this incident that did not ask to be participants!!!!”
“I will not leave my nephew standing alone!!!” Polhamus Brown continued. “When Uvalde happened, I told my own children that ‘only hurt people hurt people,” referring to the May 2022 school shooting at a Texas elementary school.

“I did EVERYTHING I COULD TO FIGHT FOR MY NEPHEW!!!! AND MY NIECE!!!!! AND MY OTHER NEPHEW!!!!!,” she added. “Y’all can go ahead and play the blame game all you want, but THE FAMILIES affected by my nephew’s actions deserve all the attention now.”
“I will take care of my nephew and what he needs on this side – just check yourself before you speak about a child that never asked to deal with the bullsh*t he saw on a daily basis,” she said, not describing what she meant.
Her posts sparked outrage from commentators but there were also supporters, including one who appeared to be another one of the shooter’s relatives who wrote, that he “never asked for what he’s been through – I’m with you 1000000%. Prayers for EVERYONE affected,” according to the Daily Mail.
“I taught Colt and know first hand he dealt with so much!” wrote another user saying that they were a former teacher of the shooter. “I love him and will be thinking about him and your family as you go through this tragedy! Such a sweet boy.”
Another user responded by blaming the family, writing that his “family failed him, and now you wanna make excuses.”
As with other school shooters, Gray was on the radar of authorities with the FBI’s Atlanta field office posting a statement to X saying that the agency’s National Threat Operations Center received tips about online threats to commit a school shooting “at an unidentified location and time” and that the information was shared with local authorities.
To confirm, the subject referred to as the 13 year old is the same subject in custody related to today’s shootings at Apalachee High School.

“The Jackson County Sheriffs’ Office located a possible subject, a 13-year-old male, and interviewed him and his father,” the FBI said in the post. “The father stated he had hunting guns in the house, but the subject did not have unsupervised access to them.”
“To confirm, the subject referred to as the 13 year old is the same subject in custody related to today’s shootings at Apalachee High School,” the FBI added, acknowledging that the “subject” was Colt Gray.
