Sign of things to come? Elon Musk praises Netflix for telling woke employees to take a hike

Eccentric billionaire Elon Musk has been causing liberal heads to explode online since announcing his intention to purchase Twitter, and his recent response to Netflix cracking down on “woke” employees who may be triggered by some of the streaming platform’s content is no exception.

In a memo to employees that made clear Netflix has no intention of allowing itself to go broke from wokeness, employees of the streaming giant were told to take a walk if they couldn’t deal with titles that offended their values.

It was the first update to the company’s position on corporate culture in five years, BizPac Review reported.

“Not everyone will like–or agree with–everything on our service,” the memo reads. “While every title is different, we approach them based on the same set of principles: we support the artistic expression of the creators we choose to work with; we program for a diversity of audiences and tastes; and we let viewers decide what’s appropriate for them, versus having Netflix censor specific artists or voices.”

“As employees, we support the principle that Netflix offers a diversity of stories, even if we find some titles counter to our own personal values,” Netflix continued. “Depending on your role, you may need to work on titles you perceive to be harmful. If you’d find it hard to support our content breadth, Netflix may not be the best place for you.”

It’s the latest move by Netflix to regain some of the 200,000 subscribers it lost in the first quarter, a tumble many believe was directly related to the overly progressive messaging in many of the shows it has carried, such as the controversial “Cuties.”

The memo also provided a quick, clear counter to those who walked off the job over a special from comedian Dave Chapelle, who is perceived by those who don’t watch Dave Chapelle specials to be trans-phobic.

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton tweeted a story about the memo and Elon Musk responded, causing current and would-be Twitter employees to freeze in their virtual tracks, if only for a moment.

“Good move by @netflix,” Musk replied.

Three words and a Twitter tag, and nearly a hundred-thousand “likes” later, the reaction to Musk’s praise appears to be almost as divided as the nation.

Twitter employees were already in panic-mode stemming from Musk’s ongoing hostile takeover of the platform in the name of free speech.

For some, Musk’s approval of Netflix’s stance is just another example of how he is a literal fascist who chains his own employees to their desks.

“We are all watching a billionaire radicalize into the alt-right in real-time,” wrote one user.

Others expressed similar sentiments:

But for others, Netflix and Elon Musk is proving that companies will draw the line when being woke begins to affect the bottom line–a sign many are calling a step in the right direction.

“The ridiculous woke BS is over,” replied the popular Catturd. “Any company catering to their madness will go broke.”

“Literally every single company needs to have this approach to doing business,” said another. “You’re here to sell a product not an agenda.”

“Amen!” exclaimed a third. “Go woke, go broke… let’s hope that era is ending!”
