Leftist students graduating from the City University of New York School of Law booed New York City Mayor Eric Adams as he delivered their commencement speech this Friday.
Video footage from the commencement address shows him trying to talk about his past as a police officer, only to suddenly be loudly and rudely booed.

“Let’s be clear, for 22 years of my life, I wore a bulletproof vest and protected the children and families of this city as a police officer,” he said, triggering loud booing and some muted applause.
“So I know what it is, I know what it takes to hold this city together, and we have a lot of challenges, a lot of things that need discipline. And just as you see these graduates here, I know what it means to protest,” he added to more boos.
Meanwhile, several rows of students sitting near the front of the stage stood up and turned their backs to the mayor.
Their uncouth behavior prompted such pushback on social media:
spoiled brats

I feel sorry for the future. They don’t know what they are protesting just so they can say they protested.

To all the snow flakes graduates, when you are getting mugged, robbed call a social worker. See how that works out.

You racist liberal ignorant bigots on here are a damn shame, and those students disrespected not only their family name but all New Yorkers, if that’s what we have to look forward to in future leaders out of them, then NYC is a gonna for sure….. SMDH!

According to the New York Daily News, the protesting students were angry with him over several things, including his cogent remarks on the death of violent, homeless career criminal Jordan Neely.
As previously reported, unlike so many others, he’d responded to Neely’s death by urging caution and warning people against rushing to judgment.

The protesting students were also angry over proposed budget cuts. In fact, the boos came just a day after they rallied against the cuts.
“Dozens of students, professors and staff, and elected officials rallied Thursday over budget cuts to the City University of New York system that they say will make it harder for many students to earn college diplomas,” the Daily News reported.
“Advocates charge that cuts in the city budget, coupled with lost tuition revenue as enrollment declines and rising costs from inflation, have pushed CUNY to the brink as federal pandemic aid expires. Community colleges, in particular, are expected to scale back popular programs, or reduce faculty positions and course offerings.”

Us college students missed our classes in order to rally against @NYCMayor 60+ million dollar budget cuts to CUNY. We should be in our classrooms, not at city hall protesting for basic human rights. #NoCutsToCUNY #CareNotCuts #FullyFundCUNY #InvestInCUNY #FreeCUNY pic.twitter.com/neyRE09Pj1

But missing from their rally was any comprehension of reality: NYC is facing a fiscal crisis.
“No one would have thought on January 1st, 2022, that we will have a $4.2 billion hole in our budget. No one would have fathomed that, and we had to continue to pivot and shift based on that,” Adams said last month, as reported by CBS News.
The crisis comes due to both an influx of migrants thanks to the Biden administration’s inaction at the border, as well as “the need to settle labor contracts with all city employees and fear that Albany will hit New York City with a new round of demands.”
“The labor contracts with all city workers are due this year. The first settlement with DC37, the city’s largest union, will cost the city $16 billion through 2027, and the PBA contract will cost the city $5.5 billion,” according to CBS News.
But like typical leftist children, the protesting kids at CUNY appear to believe money grows on trees, policing serves no purpose, and homeless criminals should be allowed to do whatever they want without consequences.
