Team Harris agrees to two debates, both in friendly settings – she rejects Fox News

In an attempt to project the upper hand, Vice President Kamala Harris has agreed to two debates with former President Donald Trump — sort of.

Campaign Communications Director Michael Tyler released a statement saying Harris has agreed to debate Trump on Sept. 10 in the very friendly confines of ABC News, this being the date President Biden had previously agreed to before being forced out. Tyler said Harris would do a second debate sometime in October, but no date was noted and it’s unclear which network will be hosting the event — you can be sure it will be as late as the campaign can get away with, given that mail-in ballots and early voting are well underway in many states by mid-October.

And while Team Harris is clear about avoiding Fox News, they did agree to one vice presidential debate on equally friendly CBS — with one stipulation.

“The debate about debates is over. Donald Trump’s campaign accepted our proposal for three debates — two presidential and a vice presidential debate,” Tyler said. “Assuming Donald Trump actually shows up on September 10 to debate Vice President Harris, then Governor Walz will see JD Vance on October 1 and the American people will have another opportunity to see the vice president and Donald Trump on the debate stage in October.”

He concluded, “Voters deserve to see the candidates for the highest office in the land share their competing visions for our future. The more they play games, the more insecure and unserious Trump and Vance reveal themselves to be to the American people. Those games end now.”

But the games don’t end here, despite the unserious statement. Trump has said he accepted two other proposed debates, one on Sept. 4 on Fox News and another on Sept. 25 on NBC News, and Harris ignored both of those dates.

As for the debate hosted by ABC News, it turns out that Dana Walden, a senior Disney executive whose portfolio includes the network, is one of Kamala Harris’ “extraordinary friends,” according to the New York Times.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) and Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) will debate on Oct. 1, and Vance has already proposed a second debate on CNN.

“The American people deserve as many debates as possible, which is why President Trump has challenged Kamala to three of them already,” Vance posted on X. “Not only do I accept the CBS debate on October 1st, I accept the CNN debate on September 18th as well. I look forward to seeing you at both!
