Even the liberal media is conceding that the Red Wave is likely to be massive. It is just not that the GOP holds a substantial lead over Independents. In some blue states like New York, Connecticut, and Oregon, even some Democrats are coming home to the GOP.
TIPP surveys confirm that the usual factors for the Dems’ poor performance include immigration, crime, and economy. But one factor that matters the most to voters is also critical: honesty. Here, the Democrats have hurt themselves over Republicans unlike at any time in recent memory.
The Biden administration’s spin machine has been on overdrive for two years. President Biden is the king of dishonesty. The government’s spokespersons in front of the TV cameras – Kamala Harris, Jen Psaki, Karine Jean-Pierre, Antony Blinken, Jake Sullivan, Alejandro Mayorkas, Janet Yellen, and Pete Buttigieg – also utter so many untruths that people have lost trust and faith in the administration.
Buttigieg was grilled by Chris Wallace of CNN this weekend on inflation. Skilled in reciting Democratic talking points, Buttigieg continued to defend the administration. “What we are doing is helping with the cost of living, and what House Republicans are proposing will hurt,” he retorted. He went on to say that inflation was a result of Covid and that it was happening around the world.
Let’s unpack his assertions. Until this time last year, the administration did not even acknowledge that inflation was an issue, although the CPI was showing that price increases were unsustainable. Secretary Yellen spent months calling the inflation ‘transitory.’
ADVERTISEMENTButtigieg knows that inflation occurs when too many dollars chase too few products. Putting more money into people’s pockets to “help with family budgets” is precisely what makes matters worse. Yet, after injecting $3 trillion into American households, Buttigieg was a big advocate of the $6 trillion BBB, a plan that the administration kept pushing into late December.
It was only during the holidays that Sen. Joe Manchin pulled the plug on BBB, and the country owes him a debt of gratitude for so doing. Chris Wallace never asked Buttigieg, where the country would be today had BBB passed. Knowing Buttigieg as we do, he would have smiled and eased out of that question with consummate ease.
Buttigieg’s blaming of House Republicans’ proposals is inherently dishonest. The GOP currently has no power in Washington, sitting in the minority, watching in horror as the Dems take the country down the wrong road. Even if the Republicans take over both Congressional chambers, fighting inflation will remain primarily an executive branch function. Besides, any GOP win will likely be just at the margins in the Senate. President Biden still wields veto power over any Congressional action on budgets and taxes, so any Republican plans are going nowhere. Buttigieg knows that the House Republicans have practically zero roles to play other than to stop Biden from spending even more or launching investigations.
The Fed, an independent agency, is on an aggressive program to mop up excess dollars and raise interest rates. But for the Fed’s actions, inflation would have been far worse. Buttigieg never complimented the Fed during his sitdown with Wallace.
Had Buttigieg confessed that the administration was wrong to have pushed too much money into American families’ pockets and the pursuit of BBB was wrong, the viewers would have appreciated his honesty. But conceding an unforced error is anathema to liberal priorities.
ADVERTISEMENTAnd then, there’s DHS secretary Mayorkas, who openly lied in front of Congress. “The Biden-Harris Administration is committed to pursuing every avenue within our authority to secure our borders, enforce our laws, and stay true to our values,” he said on April 27, 2022. Americans know that our borders have never been more unsecure in history. Images of people crossing the Rio Grande chained to each other and sometimes drowning – and of being caught and released into the country – have alarmed most Americans. In our TIPPÂ Poll, Americans give low marks to the Biden administration’s open-border policy. Yet no one in the administration has confessed to the irreversible mess that they have created.
The administration, led by President Biden, launched a concerted effort to discredit Georgia’s new voting rights law as Jim Crow 2.0. Yet studies have shown that more voters cast their ballots safely during the primary season in Georgia than ever before. Stacey Abrams, who has still not conceded her defeat from four years ago and is a classic “election denier,” is about to lose again in her rematch against Governor Brian Kemp.
The Dems went to Saudi Arabia begging for oil and got upset when MBS stiffed them. Why do they not push for increased oil production in the United States? If pumping for oil is environmentally not sound, how is it sound for OPEC+ nations to do the same? Most Americans see the glaring hypocrisy as they struggle each time they fill up at the pump.
The Biden administration treated the entire Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a pariah state because of its record on human rights in the Khashoggi murder. But, in Iran, the regime has killed nearly two hundred innocent women and children in ongoing protests in the country. Biden has treated the mullahs with kid gloves instead of announcing the scrapping of the Iran nuclear deal and dramatically stepping up sanctions to isolate the country.
The same pattern continues on J6 and the risk to the Capitol, the Mar-A-Lago raid (which has taken a back seat these days), abortion, and the severe rise in urban crime. The Dems always take positions with which the average voter disagrees and say things that are fundamentally untrue.
ADVERTISEMENTExpect a rout on November 8. There’s nothing untrue about that.
